1 understand how to manage a team
1. Understanding the attributes of effective team performance.
A good team should be reliable to get on with their work and achieve goal that need to be meet at the end of the working day. You should be able to count on them to deliver a good performance at all times.
All team need to be able to communicate openly about each other performance, be honest, direct and clear. It will help build confidence within you job role but also in other people confidence. Communication is good within a team but we also need to listen to understand how to improve and get new ideas. Team need to be able to take criticism without debating and arguing every point.
We have training meeting which all staff attend held so that staff have the chance to share information, knowledge and experience. We also have supervisor meeting to discuss change within in the nursery and ask for help with anything. Other supervisor will discuss how they perform with the room and help with new supervisor who are still unsure how to manage staff.
Team should be able to adapt to change with new situations to find the best solution. A good team should just be able to get on with the change without complaining or getting stressed. Sometime with new situation might result in a better routine or an easy way to do something. A flexible team member will be able to see different points of view and compromise when needed. A strong team player will care about their work and other team member. They want to achieve the best out of every day. A respectful team player is considerate and courtesy to other team player and help when needed to get the job done.
Belbin’s theory.
Through research Dr Meredith Belbin identified specific role’s, in most teams, individual team members can take on several characteristics, Belbin argued that although one person can’t be prefect, a team can be.
The completer-finisher: ensures that nothing is overlooked and provides thorough attention to detail.

    To have a team that works well and is effective you need to have strong individuals who will work well together, a mix of different people with different strengths would be a good choice, but all would need to have some basic team working skills these include the ability to support each other, have the same goals, communicate effectively, be reliable, enthusiastic and have consistency.
