Module Three: Discussion Questions
1. The subject of child day care is a controversial one. List different childcare options available to families. What form of childcare do you think will be the most beneficial for your family? Discuss the pros and cons of each option.
Answer: While child day care might be a controversial subject, I still think it is an available option. A parent should do their best though to make sure that the Day Care is either highly trustable, or that they personally know one or some of the care takers in charge. The pro to the daycare would be the things they teach your child and them getting an outside view of anything but family. The con to that would be the type of people that work there that you didn’t know. Another option would be to let the child's grandparents take care of the child. Some of the pros of that decision is that the grandparents already have years of experience taking care of children. But one of the cons could be if one of the grandparents is ill or easily forgetful some harm could come to the child through a horrible accident.
2. Consider your knowledge and experience about caring for children. What have you observed about the needs, behaviors, and abilities of children at different ages? How do you nurture different kinds of children at different stages of life?
Answer:
I have noticed that many children under the age of 3 have very basic needs such as food, water, bathing and sleep. As a child gets older a lot of those needs increase and others are also added such as education, activities, and thought patterns. The older a child gets the more energy they seem to have and also their behavior tends to change dramatically as they gain the ability to speak, read, write, and develop their own personality. When the child gets the age 10 and 12 there needs become a little more less than a 7 year old. They are starting to form into their own person and want to figure out what they’re going to be.
