Human growth and development affect daily lives and how a person will develop. My life brought great times and not so good times. With going through these different experiences, it brought about who I am today. I never thought as a child how my choices and experiences would influence my life, as I grew older. Childhood experiences have great influence on how a person grows mentally, physically and, unbelievably, spiritually. I believe that is true in my life due to the childhood experiences I had. A person does not realize how their childhood affected them until something actually occurs, as they grow older. Looking back into my life, I know that even though not all of my experiences were great, they made me who I am today.…

The environment I grew up in was a very bad neighborhood. The house we lived in, was in very horrible condition and accidents always happening around our surroundings. With my dad always out, struggling to work for us to always have food on the table and clothes on our bodies and my older brother always out doing things he wasn't supposed to do, we as a family never had time to talk about how our days went or what was on minds. A few years passed,my older sister Rosie, was 9 at the time, got into a car accident and sadly passed away. We as a family went through a tough time. My mother and father then decided that it was best for us to move into a more stable and friendly environment for my older brother, my soon to…

At the age of six, my life took an unexpected turn when my parents migrated to the United States and I was forced to adapt to a new culture. At the time, I had no idea this drastic event would ultimately benefit and shape who I am today. I believed this would ruin my self confidence and progress in my education. I constantly battled to lose the label of the new, shy girl in class who blushed whenever she was called on. New situations constantly arose helping me learn about myself in the process. This drastic move taught me many lessons and allowed me to grow as a person.…

Up until this point, my life has been particularly uneventful. After my father was stationed at Fort Indian Town Gap, my family moved to the small town of Annville Pennsylvania when I was five. Being that there was not much to do in such a small farm town, I started to join clubs in middle school in order to occupy my time. Through these clubs I completely changed. I transformed into a person who is a leader and is confident in their own abilities.…

In turn I had to pick up the slack and do things that would not be expected from most teenagers my age. Although my home life has not been awfully pleasant, it has helped me develop skills that others in my age group have yet to learn. I have been planning my future since I was young, even though I hit a rough patch the last few years and lost focus.…

The first event that I choose was graduating high school. The reason I choose this event and experience is because no one in my family had ever graduated high school. My mother, father, nor my brother ever got a high school education. Although, my mother and father never married I can remember them both saying that they didn’t finish high school. My father got a GED but my mother still to this day doesn’t have either a high school diploma or GED. My brother just quit school at the age of 17 and took to the streets. So this was very important ordeal for me. I can also remember other family members say that I wasn’t going to graduate high school or I would come up pregnant while in high school because my circumstances was different than everyone in the family. I proved them all wrong and graduated high school without becoming pregnant and most of the one’s that was downing me their kids ended up pregnant in high school and didn’t graduate high school.…

My family, however, was another story. My parents divorced when I was four years old. My father remarried within a year and took us (my older brother and I) in with him. I immediately rejected my stepmother at first side as she tried to impose herself to us in the place of our mother. This friction caused our whole household over a decade of suffering and misery. I cried for two years before…

The one event that majorly impacted my life was the first mission trip I went on with my school, Indian Rocks Christian School. Every May the school sends teams of students and teachers to different places around the world, from right nearby in Florida to the other side of the world in Thailand. My ninth grade year I got the chance to travel to and spend a week working in Guatemala, with children, adults, and some time working construction, and it changed my view on life greatly. I met so many amazing people, and wonderful children, but I also saw another side of how people live and it opened my eyes. While in Guatemala, I was in a small group who were given the opportunity to visit families who the church helped. Their houses were barely held…

Some events stick out more than others to make you wonder the difference it made. “If I would’ve left 5 minutes earlier, I wouldn’t have gotten stuck behind that train” or “If I wouldn’t have came home that night, I could’ve been the one in that car accident.” Whether these decisions that change your life are regretful or thankful, there was a reason. My decision to go on a mission trip when I was 13 changed so much, definitely for the better.…

Although there are many events that I could talk about that have influenced me and my life, there is one that stands out to me. This past year alone has been a tremendous year of growth for me; all thanks to being in dance. I have danced for 12 years altogether, and for the past two years, I found myself at a wonderful studio filled with people who became my family. Not long after I started attending, I was invited into their handpicked Repertory group. When I accepted, I had no idea what was in store for me. I was then asked to be a teacher's assistant for a younger group of kids, which was a huge honor. Eventually, my group was told that we had to hand choreograph a solo for us to preform in front of the entire team and panel of judges. To any other person, these things might look truly amazing and an adventure that not many have had the pleasure to experience.…
