Albert Einstein
Born in Ulm Württemberg Germany in 1879, Albert Einstein developed the special and general theories of relativity. At the age of 19 s In 1921, he won the noble prize for physics for his explanation of the photoelectric effect. He even helped create the atomic bomb! , because of these accomplishments Einstein is generally considered the most influential scientist of all time. Albert Einstein grew up in a middle class Jewish family. Albert Einstein’s mother was a Jewish woman by the name of Pauline Einstein. She was a well-educated woman. She married his father a merchant by the name of Hermann Einstein. Albert Einstein excelled in school. Later in his life he will write about two events that impacted his life forever. One was when he discovered a compass at the age of five; the other was when he found a geometry book which he read over and over again. These two events led Einstein to follow a path of science. Einstein was accepted into a special high school for mathematics and physics and graduated in 1896 at the age of 17. Albert Einstein became an electrician. While he was in polytechnic school he studied Scottish physicist James Maxwell’s electromagnetic theories. Those theories described the nature of light, and discovered a fact that Maxwell didn’t even notice himself, that the speed of light remained constant. This went against Isaac Newton’s laws of motion. This insight led Einstein to come up with his own theory of relativity. Albert Einstein is mostly known for his theory of relativity. Relativity means that what you see and measure depends on whatever else you may be comparing it and you prospective. Einstein believed that light always travels at a consistent speed. Nothing can every move faster than the speed of light. Many other scientists have tried to measure different speeds of light but there experiments’ have failed.
