Allama Iqbal
A man of letters, a high thinking philosopher and a great poet, the person I like most. Allama Iqbal, the poet of the East, was the person who dreamed of Pakistan and demanded a separate Muslim State in the South East Asia on the historical occasion of his presidential speech in the Allahabad session of the All India Muslim League.

Born on ninth of November, 1877 at Sialkot, a commercial town in Punjab, Allama Iqbal got his early education in his home town. He passed his matriculation examination in 1893 from Scotch Mission High School and his Intermediate examination in 1895 from Scotch Mission College, Sialkot. He passed his B.A and M.A examination from government college Lahore in 1897 and 1899 respectively. He got his Bar-at-Law degree in 1908 from London and his PHD from Munich University.

In 1908 he started his career as a Lawyer. He served as the elected president of Punjab Branch of All India Muslim League from 1930 till his death.

As a poet he awakened the sleeping Muslims and spurred them to action. As a great philosopher and a learned man he suggested various improvements in the metaphysical ideas of Islam. As a great statesman he foresaw the expected fate of Muslims at the hands of double faced congress and presented the solution by demanding the separate mother land for them. He was a great lover of Islamic way of life which he considered to be universal.
