Animal Cell
The functions of organelles in an Animal Cell
Cell membrane- This organelle has a double-layer membrane surrounding the cell and it supports the cell. Also, it’s semi-permeable; meaning it lets some substances through and others out.
Nuclear membrane- It encloses the nucleus, separating it from the cytoplasm. It also controls what enters and leaves the nucleus.
Nucleolus-This is found in the nucleus. It contains more genetic information (RNA).
Nucleus- It’s the control centre for cell. It contains chromosomes and is surrounded by nuclear membrane.
Cytoplasm- It suspends organelles. It’s mostly water; stores other materials until needed. Also, performs chemical reactions and changes from jelly to liquid and back.
Vacuole- It’s a sac of fluid enclosed by a single layer membrane. They also have many possible functions such as, containing substances, removing wastes, and maintaining pressure.
Mitochondria- This organelle provides energy to the cell and converts glucose into energy.
Endoplasmic Reticulum- It is a network of branching tubes and pockets filled with fluid. They also transport proteins and other materials. Golgi Bodies- They collect and process waste materials. They also process and package waste materials.

Golgi Apparatus- The Golgi Apparatus stacks and packages protein. Once this protein is packaged, vesicles pinch off, which will allow it to be opened to the exterior through exocytosis. It transports the goods created in the Endoplasmic Reticulum and ribosome to the rest of the cell. This is like the postal office because the postal workers package what needs to be mailed, stacks it, and delivers it to whenever it needs to go in the city.…

Nucleus; The cell nucleus acts like the brain of the cell which helps control the eating, movement, and reproduction of the cell. The main function of the cell nucleus is to control gene expression and mediate the replication of DNA during the cell cycle. The nuclear envelope surrounds the nucleus and all of its contents. The nuclear envelope is a membrane similar to the cell membrane around the whole cell.…

Nucleus. This is the largest organelle. Surrounded by a nuclear envelope, which is a double membrane with nuclear pores - large holes containing proteins that control the exit of substances such as RNA from the nucleus. The interior is called the nucleoplasm, which is full of chromatin- a DNA/protein complex containing the genes. During cell division the chromatin becomes condensed into discrete observable chromosomes. The nucleolus is a dark region of chromatin, involved in making ribosomes.…
