`English 9H 5/2/12 Animal Farm Descriptive Essay A fable is a fictional, usually, short story that provides a lesson or moral at the end. Most of the time, fables with include animals or objects that can talk and act like humans. In Animal Farm, by George Orwell, the animals show similarities to humans. Orwell used this technique to relate farm animals to key figures in the Russian Revolution. Also, it adds creativity to the idea of the Russian Revolution. In Animal Farm, the animals range from rodents to horses. Each animal stands for different people involved in the Russian Revolution. Animals such as a pig, a donkey, and a horse play major roles in the plot of the story. In Animal Farm, pigs play a huge role in the plot. Napoleon is the leader of the Animal Farm right after the rebellion. Napoleon is an extremely violent dictator. Napoleon uses his military actions to intimidate the other animals. He believes himself to be such a high power that the farm can't function without his leadership. Even though he is overpowering, all the animals think that, "Napoleon is always right" (Orwell 98). Napoleon is a great influence on the farm after the Battle of Cowshed. He often tries to blame others for his actions and use them as scapegoats. He is very much alike Joseph Stalin, who was cruel, brutal, selfish, devious, and corrupt towards the people of Russia. Boxer is a cart-horse who is almost overly kind and sympathetic. Boxer is a hard worker, and he's sweet and generous. But, during the Battle of Cowshed, Boxer accidentally killed a person. Boxer regrets his actions and is miserable about what he did. He finds he is too nice of a horse for these violent rebellions. Throughout the hard times of Animal Farm, Boxer always said, "I will work harder" (Orwell 57). This shows Boxer's loyalty to
