Aii An explanation of how health and safety policies and procedures protect people using social care settings.

The policies are in place to protect employees, employers, visitors ,service and to ensure that service users’ lives are not put at risk and that they are living in a safe and secure environment.

Aiii An explanation of how health and safety policies and procedures protect people who work in social care settings.

Health and safety policies and procedures sets out how employees are expected and should conduct themselves in their place of work to ensure they protect themselves and the others in a social care setting.
Employers have to provide training, instruction.

Maintaining the equipment that is used in daily work will minimises the risk of harm to staff and service users ;therefore is protecting you.
Individual Risk assessments protect people .
Ex. - Mrs Smith requires support to transfer from wheelchair to dining chair . A risk assessment would have the method of transfer in place. The risk assessment ensures that this is done correctly and safely - (Protecting Mrs Smith and yourself)
If risk assessment wouldn’t be in place, you would put her and yourself at risk of harm by not applying correct technique.
