Unit aim
This unit is aimed at those who work in health or social care settings or with children or young people in a wide range of settings. The unit explores the central importance of communication in such settings, and ways to meet individual needs and preferences in communication. It also considers issues of confidentiality.

    The difference between the sequence and rate of development is the sequence means that there is a definite pattern to a child developing e.g. a toddler being able to walk before they can run. The sequence is the speed at which development happens. When the child is born it will go through different stages of development and at different rates. At the start of a babies life it will start to learn reflexes by exploring new objects through the means of touching and seeing, over an average period of 6weeks or sooner, later all depending on the baby. Once simple reflexes have developed the baby will go onto another stage of development and so on. Babies will follow a similar pattern of development.
