Cineplex has 162 theatres in all 10 provinces in Canada alone and serves approximately 71 million guests through out all the different theatres that it operates with, such as Cineplex Cinemas, SilverCity, Galaxy Cinemas, Scotiabank Theatre, Famous Players, and Cineplex Vip Cinemas. Cineplex tries to provide all Cineplex employees with a safe and healthy work environment. All Cineplex employees have the responsibility for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace by following safety and health rules and practices. As previously mentioned, a huge corporation like Cineplex is in their best interest to have programs like these incorporated in their company so that all requirements are answered. Working at SilverCity, managers and team leaders deal with many situations, they have the obligation to make sure that people are using protected gear like gloves when handling hot food or when cleaning specific areas like the fryer. Regulations are made towards the required equipment worn by the employees as well. Especially working for SilverCity I experienced my own share of injuries and incidents, however there were solutions to everything. Records were taken down and yearly meetings were in place for employees to go over the new rules and safety procedures. These are things most companies should be able to do for their employees and Cineplex provides us with information that we need to know in order to keep working at this job safely. This is why the three priority safety programs that I named are to be the company’s main focuses and are programs that are already in place in the

Building information alone could have easily been used to protect their employees once Metro-North exercised their due diligence before taking on a job site. Once a job site tested positive for asbestos Metro-North must inform their employees of the presence and what areas tested positive as well as which building materials (Metro-North Commuter R.R. Co. v. Buckley). If a job site test above asbestos limits, Metro-North needed to make a determination that any job connected with specific materials cannot exceed asbestos work conditions and concentrations levels. There are several solutions that could help the facility reduce accidents. The most cost effective solution is to ensure management commitment. Management should stress the importance of safety for the residents and the importance of the safety of the workers. Management should require full cooperation from employees. Improvements to safety and ergonomics should take financial priority. Items like weight belts, sliding boards and geri-chairs are relatively inexpensive compared to the amount of injuries caused by the stress of moving and repositioning residents. Employees should be required to complete additional and more effective training. Management should discuss this commitment with the employees and allow them to voice concerns as well as give suggestions to increase the productivity of the safety program.…

First, I will address the issue of labor. The maintenance teams are on site and do frequent run-downs to insure that equipment is functioning properly. There is detailed safety procedures regarding every machine and task, the machinery has automatic and manual shutoffs, they use proper safety gear, there is a variety of emergency stations, and the facility is well air-conditioned. Additionally, it has been years since there were any serious injuries; the main problems are back pain and of course … paper cuts. These policies relate to what William Clifford discusses about the Duty of Inquiry in The Ethics of Belief. Clifford uses a ship-owner that is unsure about the safety of the ship before a voyage as an example to illustrate that regardless of the outcome it is unethical not to achieve certainty in regards to the safety of others. As we can see, AG takes the proper steps to ensure that there is a safe work environment.…
