The Civil war was a battle between the North side of America and the South side of America. The American Civil War took place from 1861-1865 with multiple battles. The North was against slavery, while the south was for slavery. The South army were the Confederates while the North side was the Union. All wars are caused by major conflict. Missouri becoming a slavery state in 1820 was one reason of the Civil War (The Civil War). In the North slavery was actually used until the 1800’s, mostly by farmers (Guelzo). Immigrants from Europe poured into major port cities such as New York, Philadelphia, and Boston (Guelzo) . So Northern farmers actually found it more affordable and efficient to hire immigrant workers than buying slaves (Guelzo). Northern victory in the war preserved the country as one nation and ended slavery that divided the country from its beginning (Civil War). Although these were heroic achievements they came at a cost of 625,000 lives (Civil War).
The opposing side of the Civil War was the South or the Confederates. The settlers of the south had found the warm climate and long growing season ideal for raising tobacco and, later, cotton (Civil War, American). But these plants required intense labor to plant, maintain, and harvest (Civil War, American). The southerners did not have enough people to do the work (Civil War, American).
