Color Guard Research Paper
Like any 17 year old, I do not 100% know who I am just yet. Luckily, I have been involved in various activities throughout my junior high and high school years. I have gotten the idea of what I like and do not like. Gaining experience has made me who I am today: responsible, dependable, reliable, and great leader ethics. When I was in junior high, I joined the dance team. You can say that dancing is definitely one of my talents. I love dancing, but I have never really thought of making it into a career. While I was in dance, I learned responsibility and dependability. I managed my schedule, so that I would not be late to practices or events. I was always on time and prepared. Once I left junior high and began high school, I decided to try something new, other than dance, so I joined color guard. That may have been the best choice I had ever made. I found myself in this activity. In my first year of color guard, I grew up a lot. Color guard was way more time consuming. I almost did not have enough time to do any other activity, but I managed. I managed to balance color guard, a full schedule of high school classes and on top of that, college classes. Because of this, I learned how to be a reliable person. …show more content…

Since working at the daycare, I have realized I want to be the person little girls are talking about when they say, “I want to grow up and be just like her.” Being chosen team captain has made me into the leader I am. As a child I wasn’t able to participate in too many activities. I had two other siblings and it just wasn’t feasible for my parents to enroll us in a lot of extracurricular events. My sister took ballet as a child. I would attend classes with her and I would watch her perform her routines. I became interested in what she did but I didn’t think “ballet” was for me, but I did want to participate in some form of performing arts. I liked to dance but ballet was too slow paced for me. Life seems to take many twists and turns that somehow mesh into each other to form a chaotic knot of happenings. All of these occurrences are supposed to shape you into a wiser more experienced person. Many people can even pin point the exact moment in their life which was forever changed by a single event. When that event happens it becomes an unforgettable memory for you and teaches you a lesson that becomes one of the basic guidelines in your life. The event that forever changed me and was most significant to me was when I decided what I planned on doing for the rest of my life; choosing my major. I knew exactly what I would plan on doing my freshman year of high school, and that was working with kids who are less fortunate. I didn’t know what category that fit under, but that’s because I didn’t end up worrying about my major until the end of my junior year. I began putting all the pieces together of what I love doing and I figured out my career would be working as a Social Worker. I chose Sociology as my major in college and never second guessed it. There are many reasons as to why I decided this will be my future, but the main ones are my own passion, my teachers’ experiences, and the feeling anyone gets when they help someone they don’t know just because they want to, not because they’ll get something out of it. That, itself, is reward enough.…

But now, that question becomes the topic that I feared the most and I would take some time to make up my mind and came up with a safer answer which sounded applicable. The fact was I did not have the answer.…
