Emerging Leaders Scholarship Essay
I hope you are having a great and productive start to this academic school year. I am Winter-Noelle Grant, a native from Shreveport, Louisiana and a sophomore biology major at the university. I served as the 2014-2015 Miss Freshman along with other leadership and organizational capacities on campus. I am addressing this email to you because I have strong concerns about my outstanding financial obligations to the university due to the lack of effective communication. This summer, I was notified that my Emerging Leaders scholarship would not be renewed for the 2015-2016 academic school year because of failure of obtaining the academic requirements. In order to be renewed the scholarship, a 2.8 grade point average must have been obtained. Unfortunately, I received a 2.6 grade point average at the end of spring semester.

Enclosed in the appeal letter, I stated the events and concerns that resulted in the decline of my grade point average, as well as, contact information from my royal court advisors, campus counselor, R.A.G.E advisor, and academic advisor for further verification. The reply I received from the Office of Financial Aid addressed that I would be able to keep my Fisk Grant, but never addressed whether or not the Emerging Leaders scholarship appeal was accepted or declined. In fact, I assumed it was a simple error because the Fisk Grant was never up for discussion. Sadly to say, if I were informed that my scholarship appeal had been denied this summer, I would have not been able to finish my matriculation at the university because a large portion of my financial aid rest upon that particular scholarship. It is very inconvenient receiving information during the start of the academic school year about a denied scholarship that should have been address prior to enrolling in the fall
