Environment Plays a Role in Learning
Research reveals that the environment can enhance or diminish a students ability to learn. Then traditional method ha become ineffective and out-dated, and can hinder the students learning capacity. Schools are beginning to change the format in which they educate to accommodate individual students unique learning style. This paper will go over 3 different areas of learning and how the environment plays a role in the areas. Then traditional setting, the informal outdoors, and having the learning environment reflect the individual. Environment is in this case is defined as a students physical surroundings, and affect emotionally. The traditional classroom setting does not effectively nurture every student’s ability to learn. Students personalities and genetic make-up are unique. The traditional classroom can be too rigid for some students, it lacks stimulation, hinders creativity, and diminishes a students ability to learn and can cause stress. These students find it difficult to adapt to their surroundings, putting them at a disadvantage. They begin to show signs of disinterest and or inability to focus. Some students may exhibit negative behavior. Teachers may mistake their behavior for intentionally disrupting the class. This type of behavior often leads to the student being reprimanded. Eventually the student can even become typecast as a “bad kid” by other students. The classroom now becomes something a student fears causing stress and anxiety, making it impossible to learn. Once stress of fright develops it takes time for the body to recover, sometimes days ????? to learn. Chronic stress produces excess glucocorticoids-toxic to neurons. END CITE
