Effects of Concentration Purpose: the purpose of this part of the lab is to see the effects of enzyme concentration on the reaction rate.

Part 2: Effect of Substrate Concentration Purpose: The purpose of this part of the lab was to find the effect of substrate concentration on enzyme activity.

Part 3: Effect of Temprature Purpose: The purpose of this part of the lab was to determine the effect of temperature on the rate of enzyme activity.

Part 4: Effect of enzyme inhibition Purpose: the purpose of this part of the lab was to find the effect of an inhibitor on enzyme activity.

Questions for Report
1.
A. The enzyme of the reaction is the catalase. B. the substrate of the reaction is H2O2. C. The product of the reaction is 2H2O2+O2. D. the gas produced during the reaction is oxygen and it can be proved as the paper filter rises as it reacts just like oxygen.
2. The enzyme activity increases it carbon point then levels off, when the enzyme concentration is added, the opposite occurs when there is less.
3. When the enzyme concentration of the substrate is added the reaction rate is increased.
4. If I increased the substrate concentration to 40% the reaction rate would increase.
5. Changing the rate of enzyme concentration will make the reaction faster than changing the substrate concentration.
6. When hydroxylamine was added the reaction rate became much slower than it was when it was controlled.
7. When an enzyme becomes denatured the reaction rate becomes slower, this is true because when we added the paper filter to the 65 degree beaker with enzyme the reaction was so slow that we had no data to put into our graph.
8. Optimum temperature is when the reaction ceases to happen. The optimum temperature for

    1. As shown in the graph above, the rate of activity increases as the enzyme concentration is increased. In summarization, this means that the more enzymes that are available, allow for more substrates to be converted into product within a smaller amount of time. However, the substrate becomes a limiting factor and when there are no more substrates to be broken down, the reaction rate becomes constant.…

    1) The purpose of this lab was to determine the rate of enzyme activity under variety of different conditions, such as, different amount of drops of enzymes and different temperature of water. The class measured the pressure in the test tube during the reaction of the substance with, 1.5 ml of H2O2, 1.5ml of H2O and different amounts of enzyme drops, to determine how much oxygen gas is produced during the reaction since the pressure of the test tube will get higher as more oxygen gas is accumulated during the reaction.…

Part 1 dilutions participated as a trail run to gather around the “full enzyme” that was used for the other parts of the experiment. Part 2 readings were in the time span of 10 minutes and the final results show a spontaneous increase in the first minutes of the absorbance readings. They then showed a steady reading towards the end of timing. The amount of enzyme is decreasing as the dilution occurred. The activity it catalyzes measures the amount of enzyme present in the reaction (Introduction to Enzymes).…

The results of this lab proved several things. The results of the first test show that a higher enzyme concentration causes a faster rate of the substrate being broken down. This means that the effect of enzyme concentration on enzyme activity is a positive effect and speeds up enzyme activity. The reason that the results turned out as they did is because with more enzymes to do the work, that leaves less work to be done by the other enzymes so the work gets done…

The following 2 labs experimented the more enzymes and substrates added to the concentration will effect the reaction rate. Our second lab, we tested enzyme and substrate concentrations to determine the increase of temperature and inhibitor. The enzyme source used in both labs was peroxide, guaiacol is used as a substrate for peroxide. We used Guaiacol, turnip extract, peroxide and distilled water for enzyme and substrate concentration. In the second lab we used the same substances in lab one, however using the temperatures of 4○C (ice bath) , 23○C ( room temperature), 37○C (body temperature) and 60○C (water bath) to determine increase of temperature. The result rates of reaction in enzyme concentration started from a low to high increase, unlike the substrate concentration it started high to low then back up to high reaction. The temperature and inhibitor went from low to high to low in the reaction rate.…

I predict that as the concentration of the Hydrochloric acid increases, the time taken for the magnesium to dissolve decreases. So, the higher the concentration of the acid, the faster the reaction between magnesium ribbon and the hydrochloric acid will be. This would be because there were more acid molecules to react with the magnesium ribbon. Increasing the concentration of the reactants will increase the frequency of collisions between the two reactants…
