Experiencing Failure In High School
Experiencing failure is something all people are going to have to go through at some point in their life. Whether it's sports, school, friendships, families, and relationships. For me, I experienced the most eye-opening failure in my freshman and sophomore year of high school.

It was hard for me to transition through freshman year with more classes and more classrooms to go to. Also with more older and intimidating students. Though many freshman usually are nervous in their first year of high school, some were already acquainted with the upperclassmen and had in no time made many friends. Though I wasn't looking for friends, I saw how they were all so comfortable being shown around the school and other things of the nature. Besides being nervous of my first year, I also seemed to have taken lightly of my classes and just floated through without trying. I got either one or two F's in different courses throughout my four quarters and I vowed to myself to strive for better within my sophomore year.

Now looking back on things on my last year of high school, I most definitely regret not working hard enough for my grades and taking things seriously. I still haven't got over the fact that I basically messed up my high school education and I honestly don't think I ever will. Though I do feel like a failure, I have faith in myself that I will be able to strive for better in college. Many times I wish that I could reverse back time to fix my mistakes but realistically I know that I can't fix anything in the past, but fix things now in order to get a better future that I want for myself. Throughout this whole entire experience I learned the importance of education and how it will really help for a better future. I also learned the importance of grades and how they could affect your life at an early

As I got older and got into high school, things got really ugly my freshman year. Hanging out with the wrong crowd changed my whole perspective on school and how I should apply my knowledge to school work. I can honestly say that my highest grade was probably a C out of the whole year. The beginning of my life changing didn’t take place till my sophomore year when I met my older cousin who decided to be hard on me in school. Part of that was him keeping me into football and other sports he thought I would be good in. It wasn’t till junior year in high school where I really took football…

For some people it takes forever to figure out that failure is not always a bad thing, while at the time it may seem like the end of the world. “We are all potentially capable of any human act.” (Roth 39). Even the most successful of people have failed at something at least once in their lives. Maybe consider though, that failure was what brought them back up to the best, hardest working person that they could be and it did not take long for them to retrieve what they had lost and made it ten times better!…

When I first stepped into Anderson High School as a freshman, I was exceedingly confident in myself. I played sports, had gotten good grades, and planned to have an amazing high school career. Freshman and sophomore year were a breeze. If I am being straightforward, I did not focus much on my schoolwork. I did what was required of me and got good grades, but I did not go above and beyond. I had always been told by upperclassman, “It only gets harder from here. Enjoy it while you can.” Now I realize what that means.…

I experienced failure when I had a singing audition at LaGuardia High School for a chance to be accepted into the school. However, although I did not get into the school, resulting in a failure, I refused to have the result have a negative effect on me. This failure affected me in the most positive way. It showed me that I needed to practice more on my vocals and techniques. Over the years I have built up my confidence and learned proper singing techniques. When singing I no longer a shy voice, but I sing as if I were the one to write the song, strong and powerful. From this experience I learned numerous things. It is okay to fail at things as long as you know the reasons why you failed. By knowing those reasons you would not cause the same mistakes again.…

What is failure? Is it being told by some else that you aren’t good enough for a part? Is it studying so hard and long for a test and not getting the grade you hoped you would receive? Failure, when pertaining to human achievement is the act of not reaching success. Failure, though, in its own right is just an idea because as Winston Churchill once said, “ Success is not final, failure is not final; it is the courage to continue that counts.” This is a lesson I learned at the end of my freshman year of high school. Freshman year wasn’t my best year academically, athletically, or socially. I wasn’t specifically failing in any of those areas, but I released at the end of year how strikingly mundane I had been when I thought I should have been exceling. I beat myself up, considering anything less than my expectations a failure. I wanted to give up and not care. The weird thing is though, is that this mishap I had didn’t detour…

Even though I passed 12th grade, i should had payed more attention. I knew i could've did better because i knew i had it in me. I should have got over the cockiness attitude, communicated better and just paid more attention because at the end it would have paid off. Misunderstood learning is nobody fault I believe if you want a bright future, and want to be successful its all about putting the work in. As Carol Dweck would say my senior year i was a fixed minded a person, that believes in their basic qualities, like their intelligence or talent, are simply fixed traits. In my opinion failure is simply its own experience, because we go through so many things in life, both good and bad, we have to learn from our mistakes and hope we won’t have to go through them again. Some people today consider success as being a major influence on whom we are today, but in all reality it’s our own failures that help us learn, encourages us to keep going, and prepares us for future failures.…

Through out my life, I have made many mistakes. I generally tend to think through what I am planning to do, so that I will not regret my actions later. I was recently reflecting about my past, trying to remember mistakes that I regretted and vowed to never repeat again. I came to the conclusion that my biggest mistake was not trying hard enough in school. My biggest regret was the fact that I wasted so much time when I was in high school, and never put forth an effort to succeed.…
