family and friends
My family. Where to start? I don’t really know where to start so I guess I’ll start my telling you about my parents. My dad’s name is Dwayne Locklear. He is married to Selena Locklear. He has two biological children and one step-daughter. My little sister Ariel Locklear and I are his biological kids. Arlena Locklear is his step-daughter. He works at Smithfield Packing in Tar Heel, North Carolina. He has worked there for the past 22 years and counting. My mom’s name is Vickie Simmons. She is married to my step-dad Donald Simmons but everybody just calls him “Don” for short. She has two biological children and five step-children. She works at Carlie C’s IGA off of Cedar Creek road. She has only been there for a few months. My little sister Alexis Simmons and I are my mom’s only biological kids. Aaron Simmons oldest and soon to be husband and father, Sean Simmons father of Gavin my nephew and second oldest, Nicholas third oldest, and Brandon Simmons fourth oldest and Justin Simmons the youngest of all five boys. I have two friends that I consider family, Kayla Locklear and Kiana Sease. I’ve known Kayla the longest. I’ve known her for most of my life. I consider her a sister since we bicker and fight like one ha-ha. We’ve had each other’s back for as long as I can remember. She is my partner in crime my ride or die my best friend. She also has one handsome little boy. I’ve known Kiana since my sophomore year at South View. I think I would consider as a sister too because she sure makes sure that I stay out of trouble.
When I was younger about four or five I remember taking a trip down to Florida visiting family. While we were there we went fishing in a little pond that was in my mom’s aunt’s backyard. This is the time that I caught my first fish. I remember pulling it out of the water and trying to run away from it still holding on to the fishing pole. While I was attempting to run away from the fish that was helplessly dangling on the end of the line all my parents could do was laugh at me. There was another time when I was about two or three. My dad told me that I was sitting on the ground playing when a grasshopper jumped in front me and he said that I caught it and ate it.
Another time when I was about eight or nine when I and my dad were deer hunting in about mid-December. We were walking through the swamp and we came to part of the swamp that I couldn’t cross because the water was too deep. My dad had to pick me up and carry me threw the water but he tripped and I fell in the freezing water. By the time we got back to where the truck was I had ice and water sloshing around in my boots. Thank goodness I had a change of clothes with me that day or else I could’ve gotten really sick.

I almost fell right out of the canoe I was so startled. I casted my line right where I heard the splash and not ten seconds after, I saw a fish jump right out of the water and take my fly. It tug so hard the whole way i was reeling it in and i thought it was going to break but luckily I was able to get the fish to the boat. It was the biggest fish i’ve ever caught and even seen in real life. My dad tried to take a picture of my catch, before he could get the camera out, the fish slipped out of my hand and plopped into the water. That whole night was filled with fishing. I caught at least a dozen more, while my dad only caught three. On our way back to the cabin I told my dad,”That was seriously funny that i caught more fish than you and you’ve been here many more times than I have.”…

I come from a very dysfunctional family; I am the older of the two children that were produced by my parents. I have a younger sister named Nicole Marie Stover. We are the result of my father’s third marriage, the only offspring he is aware of. He has been married seven times to date, the latest one has been the longest lasting, their twentieth anniversary was a few days ago. He made it quite clear when he came in one morning with Carol, my now step-mother of twenty years, that he was going to make this one work no matter what it took. Well this included striking me out of the picture as I was a troubled young lad. But let’s go back to the beginning of my life, the beginning of this story. I was born Sunday November 09 of the year 1980 to George Adam Stover, III and Dawn Marie Stover (Adams) in the wonderful town of Baltimore that’s located in the state of Maryland at Saint Josephs Hospital. My father was a feature photographer for WMAR Channel 2, where I spent a good portion of my time at playing on the editing room floor and…

I lived in 3 different houses till I moved out of my parents’ house. Every time we moved the house got bigger with a new addition to the family. Our last house was a 7 bedroom, 2-story house. I have 3 other siblings, Jodi who is 3 years younger, Jane who is 6 years younger and Jim who is 15 years younger than me and 2 dogs. I always thought both of my sisters were more talented, more pretty and smarter than I was and I never got to know my brother very well till later in life because of our large age difference. Both of my parents got a college education, and for women in that time that was rare. My dad, James Torrey worked in an insurance company, and he always felt distant to me. My mom, Hetty Bixby Torrey never really had a job but she joined a lots of committees and participated in volunteer work. Don’t forget she had to take care of me and my siblings too.…

I was a fake fish that was thrown onto the pool deck and left to dry. The pool had its shallow ends and it had even deeper ones for those who knew how to swim. When growing up with a big and spread out family, home life tends to be a little erratic. Since my mother was not the best of children, she had a few boyfriends in her time. She had my sister when she was six-teen, and my brother and I when she was around twenty. My biological father supported her until they both decided that they needed to go their separate ways, and she then married my step father. My family at the time consisted of my parents, my six-teen year old sister, my twin brother, and myself at age eleven. I had always thought of my family as pretty close to perfect until people started to talk. I first learned of this by my neighbor-friend’s mother, who whispered to her kid about why I had to leave every other weekend to visit my “other” father. I had never before thought of this as a strange idea, so I asked my sister about it. She told me our mother’s story. Once my mother learned of this, she was not upset with me for asking so many questions, and for that I’m glad. I learned more about my mother that day and I respected her for recognizing her past mistakes. Since she had, what I think to be, a pretty messed up life before; she corrected that and raised her children to be respectable people.…

Although I am a little rough around the edges, I have a soft spot in my heart for those whom I love. My family keeps me going through the good, the bad, and the ugly. My parents are still happily married, even through twenty-two years of putting up with four children. My three sisters are amazing. Their names are Shannon, Ashley, and Lynnsy. I do, in fact, play favorites when it comes to siblings. Ashley is my favorite because she is always around helping me with whatever I need. I also am very close to my cousin, Matt Hare, and his family. I consider everyone an acquaintance because I do not like to get too close to people emotionally. If there was ever anything that any of my family needed, I would do everything I could to help them obtain it..…

I know friends come and go, but your family will ALWAYS stick to you. From their encouraging words, I had a great recovery and did not have deal with ulcerative colitis the rest of my life. Also my family has encouraged me to get good grades and always try my ultimate best. My family is the one that will never stop you from laughing. They always have cheesy jokes and stories from their works. One major item they support is dance. I have been dancing for about 7 yrs and I am really compassionate about it. I do Bollywood and hip pop. My parents know how much it means to me bringing me to dance practice even though their job at work doesn’t end until 10 min before the practice starts. I am so graciously blessed to have parents that adjust to their shifts at work to bring me to dance practice. A lot of fellow peers didn’t have families that come to every dance show, but my family was there for every single one and cheering me on even though I make big mistakes on stage. It was always meant a lot for me that I have great parents that…

I have two older sisters and one younger brother. My first older sister is Brandy she is 21 years old and is the closest sibling to me. My other older sister is Cassidy she is 26 years and has a 1 year old son. My younger brother is named Michael he is 12 years old. Life with siblings is good and bad depending on how you look at it. My sister Brandy and I never really got along because we were closest in age. When I was little she would always make fun of me and hit me; however, she wouldn’t let anybody make fun of me or touch me on the bus or at school. I always looked up to her because she had everything. When I started getting older around 14 years old things changed I started to beat her at games and got stronger so she would be scared to hit me because she knows that she would get it back. By the time I was 17 we started getting along; we would go to the mall together and not fight or argue. My sister Cassidy and I never fought and she was always there for me. Since the age difference is so high we had no need to fight. She would always take me places and do things for me like an older sister should. She was the best older sister I could ask for. My brother Michael and I never got along. He was the most annoying brother in the world. Brandy never really got along with him either. Since I am the older brother my parents would always try and make me do stuff for him and take him places but I would always refuse. If I ever took him in my car he would be so annoying playing with my windows and touching everything in my…
