This booklet was inspired by and written for participants in the Festival Encouragement Project (FEP), a program co-created in 2003 by the
Center for Cultural Innovation and supported by a grant from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (LADCA). The goal of the FEP is to build the strength and capacity of selected outdoor cultural celebrations produced in L.A. that serve residents and tourists.

In this next section S.W.O.T analysis will be used to analyze the festivals strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats which will provide the framework that the recommendations will be based upon. The festival has many strengths that have enabled its continued success since its infancy. The location for the festival alone is a great strength as it takes place within the popular Gros Morne National Park which provides a setting of amazing natural landscapes, and spectacular scenery for the event. It is apparent that the festivals majority of customers are locals from nearby communities, which is great as it shows the festival has the support of the nearby communities, and does not rely on visitors from afar or out of the providence. The strong focus on community can also be seen within the festival as there are various local artists, musicians, and writers showcased along with the numerous local programs and collaborations with local arts groups, including the: Theatre Newfoundland and Labrador, Gross Morne Summer Music Program, and school outreach programs.…

The Crocker is one of the main sources in the Sacramento area for the study and appreciation of fine art. The Museum offers art exhibitions, programs and events to showcase its collections of Californian, European, Asian, African and Oceanic artworks and international ceramics. The Crocker Art Museum offers many outreach programs in the Sacramento community including internships, volunteer opportunities, student and community exhibitions and scholarship art projects (Crocker). In the past Sacramento State and the Crocker Art Museum came together for an evening showcasing called, “U-Nite For Art.” Most attendants were Sacramento Students where they enjoyed live music, theatre performances, photography, design, art, film, and digital media presentations (Sacramento). Today, I propose a more permanent partnership between Sacramento State and The Crocker Art Museum.…

    Susan Sontag Analysis

Further, and most importantly, I had a detailed description of the book content which helped me to truly envision it. EBay site displayed an attractive introduction to his description by stating: “Susan Sontag's groundbreaking critique of photography asks forceful questions about the moral and aesthetic issues surrounding this art form. Photographs are everywhere, and the 'insatiability of the photographing eye' has profoundly altered our relationship with the world. Photographs have the power to shock, idealize or seduce, they create a sense of stalgia and act as a memorial, and they can be used as evidence against us or to identify us”. It illustrated the evidenced effect of photographs in our lives; demonstrating how photography can have its unique impression on us. Doing so, will motivate the audience to explore the hidden facts behind this art; especially after knowing that the book is analyzing the moral and aesthetic issues surrounding photography. Which consequently will create a very wide audience base. The message on eBay site is directed to any person who uses photographs, and who subsequently will be affected with theses photographs’ moral and esthetic aspects- which in turn can leave a strong impression on his life. The site further exhibits more subjective descriptions like: “Susan Sontag's On Photography is a seminal and groundbreaking work on the subject”, and also highlights some of magazines’ reviews as regards this book: “Sontag examines the ways in which we use these omnipresent images to manufacture a sense of reality and authority in our lives. Sontag offers enough food for thought to satisfy the most intellectual of appetite. (The Times). A brilliant analysis of the profound changes photographic images have made in our way of looking at the world, and at ourselves (Washington…

People from different cities, and states come down just for this event. There are six stages, dozens of rides, and a full gallery’s worth of art, cool off zones, vendors, food and beverages. We were surrounded by the smell of popcorn and cotton candy. It felt like the carnival you liked to go to as a kid. Everywhere we went there were people dressed like rainbows. Everybody was dressed in so many colors, and dressed like clowns, with different costumes. The…

Photograph as Contemporary Art by Charlotte Cotton was first publish in 2004. Charlotte Cotton discusses the transformation of photography, as it moves into the category of contemporary art. As they were gaining momentum throughout history, but today they have people more vocal than they ever been. She is more concerned about the motivations of the photographer; rather than the themes, or subject matter. Because that’s the main focus when “regular” people are viewing photographs.…

Festivals are good social gatherings that bring people closer together. One festival I enjoy in particular is the Nouit Blanche art festival in Toronto. This assignment asks me to analyze an event that has taken place recently and record my observations. Some evident observations can be interpreted by the viewers expressions and non verbal cues. This assignment also asks me to relate the festival to concepts of culture. This festival relates to the concept of mass culture because this is an event that everyone of all ages and races seem to enjoy. Another thing this assignment asks is to acknowledge any limitations I may have had during the festival. Some limitations included the fact that I may have not seen the whole festival and could have…
