Abstract—A sequence of professional courses of study in Computer Engineering at the authors’ university was initiated. These included Digital Fundamentals, Programmable Logic Design, Computer Hardware and Digital Systems Design. This paper presents a study on how the problem based learning has been used for these courses. It also describes how CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate) concepts have been applied with an overview of all the hardware resources necessary to support the degree. Index Terms—Computer Engineering, Engineering Education, Problem Based Learning, CDIO, Digital Systems.

lists of abilities they wanted their engineers to possess (e.g. Boeing 's Desired Attributes of an Engineer). A CDIO (conceive-design-implement-operate) program [2] is based on the principle that product and system lifecycle development and deployment are the appropriate context for engineering education. The CDIO concepts, which basically are a model of the entire product cycle, form a worldwide initiative in Engineering Education. CDIO is considered the context for engineering education in that it is the cultural framework, or environment, in which technical knowledge and other skills are taught, practiced and learned. B. The Computer Engineering Degree There are several basic courses that are common to all the Engineering degrees at the Department of Electronic Engineering at the authors’ university. Apart from them, there are four specialized professinal courses compulsory for the Computer Engineering Degree: Digital Fundamentals (in the first

Computer system development can be thought of as having two main components: system analysis and system design. In system analysis, emphasis is placed on understanding the details of an existing system, and one then proposes to design a new system based on the analysis findings. From a project perspective, the objectives are to determine the needs of a business, engineering or science project that requires a computer system and prepare a comprehensive design around these project needs.…

Following the success of the development of CD technology in the late 1970’s, the use of CD-ROM technology and CD-ROM drives was introduced in 1985. By the early 1990s most computers sold included CD-ROM drives. In view thereof, it is believed that the challenge faced by Dave Peterson associated with the development of CD-ROM self-study course happened between 1985 and early 1990s when the use of CD ROM drives became popular.…

As we visited different industries, somehow we learned from them. Like in TOEI Animation and Cutting Edge Productions, they taught us step by step processes on how to make an animation from lay outing to finishing .Although, there’s no multimedia subject in our curriculum but atleast they gave us an idea on how it works. In addition in UP-Diliman, we also benefited in the seminar in Android Apps, using Ubuntu an open source operating system and their students guided us to their different IT laboratories. Ma’am Christy told us the projects of their students focus in security problem to address, enterprise network and some information about AI or the Artificial Intelligence. Though, it is not already reach beyond my knowledge. Then on our third day, I learned from one of our tour how technology works in a factory. Imagine a fully automated and computer controlled manufacturing facility untouched by human hands.…
