Health and safety at work act 1974- throughout doing creative and therapeutic activities you will need to think about how you can make it safe for you and other people around you for example if you was doing cooking with disabled children you will need to think about how you can make it a safe activity. You will need to think about what they can’t do such as cutting things up with sharp knives or whether they can take things out the oven. You will also need to think about allergies in case the children are allergic to anything if so make sure they don’t eat or touch any of them as this could cause harm to the child. Things you should think about while cooking are;
Knives- make sure the child aren’t using the knives as they are sharp and they could cause serious damage, instead you should take the knives and cut the food up ready for the child to use this is so they don’t feel left out in the cutting.
Fire safety- when you are cooking you need to think of fire hazards that could cause serious injuries
