Marching enforced the ideas of mind over body. The emphasis of mind over body would ensure that perfect unity in the unit would be secured. Discipline is the focal point of marching but marching also promotes the enhancement of midshipmen candidate’s physique. This is due to the grueling long hours of marching which enhances ones physical ability. Marching is a key element of traveling, or Δx getting from point alpha to point bravo. As one is able to find the initial velocity and final velocity with the amount of time they perceive with the accounted data they have of the distance they are going, or will travel. This helps with finding the final displacement which in turn will help the Midshipmen Candidate with mental processing’s of the “brain” or mental states. Marching helps break Midshipmen attitudes that they have previously had before coming to NAPS. Marching helps discipline and understand the standing of other units and how important it is to not walk through marching formations during broad daylight. The audacity one must have to walk through a marching platoon of any company. The balls one must have to walk through a marching platoon as if he/she didn’t care of the consequences such as writing a 500 word essay on the Ethics of Marching which the word count was just broken 21 words ago. If these Midshipmen Candidates do not break their attitudes by writing such essays, in the future they will be in serious trouble with bigger authorities such as Chief Clarke, Chief Kennon, and or LT Miniter or CAPT Fielding, which are some of the names that I fear to be in trouble with. Following instructions, especially to the smallest detail, is incredibly important for several reasons. It accomplishes a number of things in addition to the task the instructions are specifically given for, but the foremost reason for the importance of following detailed instructions is to successfully and correctly complete the task. In every part of life, doing things the way they need to be done is important, but this is especially true in the military and even more so in the special operations community and the training and selection for that community. In a real world scenario, success or failure by members of special operations means not only life and death for those involved, but can have far reaching consequences and effects on national security and international politics. In the military, success is imperative because of what is at stake.…

This essay will explain what meanings of integrity and accountability and also what those mean to me. The definition of integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Integrity is the number one quality of leadership. Integrity in leadership is expressed in terms of constancy and consistency. It is manifested in an absolute devotion to keeping one’s word. The glue that holds all relationships together, including the relationship between the leader and the led,is trust, and trust is based on integrity. Integrity is so important that functioning in our society would be impossible without it. We could not make even a simple purchase without a high level of confidence that the price was honest and that the change was correct. The most successful individuals and companies in America are those with reputations of high integrity among everyone they deal with. This has a big impact in the military especially in my line of work. It means that my supervisor can put trust in me when he sends me out on the jet, to do a job, and the supervisor knows that it will get done the right way. It also means that when I get farther into my career I can one day become a responsible supervisor for the up coming marines that come from school. When I think about integrity it reminds me that it has consequences if you don't follow what you believe in or you let the people that believe in you down. “Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody’s going to know whether you did it or not.” said by Oprah Winfrey says that you should always do what is right when no one is around to inspect your work. “I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence” this quote is by Frederick Douglass. It states that you should always be true to yourself and do what you think is right so that you don't soil your name or make…

I have been tasked with writing this 1000 word essay on the importance of accountability of sensitive items within the military. The reason I have been assigned to do this task is due to my failure of being attentive and securing my weapon and having it with me at all time. I failed by leaving my M9 Berretta at home in my safe before I left in support of the Boston Marathon. I was told by certain individuals to leave it at home, but I failed as an NCO to ask my section leader on how to properly secure my weapon. I did what I thought was best and left it to at home limit the amount of time I traveled with it. In doing so was wrong, if anything would have happened to that weapon there would have be severe consequences that not only myself would have to face, but individuals in my command that would have been affected due to the negligence of my actions. This whole process is new to the unit and me on how to transport a weapon properly and safely from California to Massachusetts. I secured my weapon in weapon case with and lock and a slide lock following JetBlue regulation and TSA regulations. Once I landed in Massachusetts I would secure my weapon in the 1st CST safe for safe keeping. A day prior to the Boston marathon I would be issued it again and along with 45 rounds of hollow point ammunition from the 1st. Once the Boston Marathon was over I would have the weapon remain with me until my departure back to home station. In AR 710-2 (Supply Policy below the National Level), AR 735-5 (Policies and Procedures for Property Accountability) and AR 190-13 (The Army Physical Security Program). All these Army Regulation cover the Army policy for property accountability. Some sensitive items are your weapon, military ID card, communication equipment, etcetera. Sensitive items are anything that can be used by opposing forces or the enemies to counter attack, weaken forces, and gain information, and so on.…

    Personal Accountability

    • 562 Words

Accountability is normally viewed as being responsible, giving an explanation of your actions, to somebody for something. When you take 100 percent responsibility for holding yourself accountable, your performance will improve, your relationships will thrive, people’s respect for you will increase, you will be a great example for others to follow, and your self-esteem will grow. How is it that in all these areas of your life you can see such dramatic improvement? Because when you hold yourself accountable to doing the things you know you should do, you will distinguish yourself from the crowd. I am convinced if you want to advance your life personally or professionally, you must hold yourself accountable for your actions, responsibilities, and goals. Think about it. Why should it be someone else’s job to make sure you are doing the things that you know you should to be doing? When someone has to hold me accountable, because I failed to do what I should have done, I have a serious conversation with myself. My belief is that no one should have to hold me accountable for my actions, responsibilities and goals. While I appreciate others helping me get better, I am the one that must hold myself to a higher standard than my peers. Make no mistake about it. You cannot achieve any worthwhile personal or professional goal, if you don’t hold yourself accountable. The reason is simple. It’s your life! If you have to be held accountable at work, don’t expect to be promoted or to experience any type of significant career advancement. If you have to be held accountable at home by your parents, roommate or spouse, it will grow old fast and your relationships will deteriorate. Holding yourself accountable is nothing more than following through with YOUR commitments and responsibilities. It’s doing what YOU know YOU should do, when YOU should it. Whether you are 15 years old or 60 years old, let today be the day that you make the commitment to yourself that you will NEVER…
