Chapter 1: Introduction

1.1 The Statement of Online music and the Rationale for the study:
Music is an irreplaceable aspect of a culture. In current years, along with the development of technology, online music had a great chance to develop. 2003 - 2008 was a period of "perversion" of online music. A large number of online music services and music websites had appeared enhanced the development of domestic music. Music websites became the huge music stores with millions music tracks. Never before, domestic music was so richness and diversified in both content and quantity.
Until 2012, online music remains its popular. Although online music is popular in Vietnam, there are few researches about its development and effects on life. Based on that reality, the writer gathered the information, analyzed and synthesized to provide an online music’s overview and point out the impacts of it on many aspects of life in Vietnam.
1.2 Aims of the study.
The study intends to give a clear vision of online music’s statement in Vietnam. On the other hand, the main objective of the study is to provide the information about the effects of online music on many sides of life, both the positive and negative influences. To accomplish this goal, the writer divided it into three steps: firstly, prompting about the features of online music in Vietnam. Secondly, indicating the effects of online music. Finally, the writer will propose some solutions for its drawbacks and predict its future.
1.3 Research questions.
In the study, the writer attempts to resolve these following questions:
1. How has online music developed in Vietnam?
2. What are the advantages of online music?
3. What are the disadvantages of online music and its solutions?
4. What are the predictions about the future development of online music in Vietnam?
