Legalizing Marijuana Have you ever been so tense that you just wanted to get away? If marijuana were legal, that would never be a problem. Marijuana is one of the most important issues in the world today. There are many reasons for people to be in favor of marijuana, or against it. There are many different reasons that people use marijuana, and some of them are actually positive. Marijuana can help overstressed workers relax in their free time, boost the economy, and help improve human health. This topic has been debated for years, but it is finally starting to take effect. Several states already allow the use of marijuana for various medical reasons, with several more states giving serious consideration to the issue. Several states already sell k2, which is somewhat of a synthetic type of marijuana without toxins. Stress can be very dangerous, even life -threatening. With the current state of the economy, jobs, and relationships, stress can create serious problems. It affects not only physical health but mental health as well. Many people feel that the legalization of marijuana would give people a way to safely deal with their stress without doing anything illegal. Many people resort to drinking, which in popular demand is a bad choice because it can lead to other more serious issues. There are many cases of this addiction, and you can even see it on television. Many auto accidents occur due to people driving while intoxicated, many of them fatal. Marijuana is not only non-habit forming, but it also relaxes people and slows everything down, not to mention the fact that it can be stopped right away, unlike alcohol. The state of the economy is a huge issue in our world today. There is desperate need of something productive happening, so that many more jobs are created, and so that the economy can get a much needed boost.     Marijuana was first used for medicinal purposes dating back as early as the 1600’s. However, a law was passed in 1930, which banned the substance. Since then we have been fighting a never-ending war on drugs that has estimated to be over a trillion dollar failure, and we have nothing to show for it. There are many different takes on legalizing marijuana nation-wide but some states are not convinced yet. There are two main views on legalizing cannabis. One is the government view, which believes if marijuana was taxed like alcohol and tobacco it could yield close to 50 billion in tax revenue annually. Along with this, legalizing the drug would save the U.S. about $41 billion a year in enforcing the drug laws, and using that for education and health. They have been conditioned to think that marijuana use is bad and that people who use it are dangerous or strange or maybe even dirty. They have visions of people using marijuana and being totally zonked out, unable to maintain a regular conversation. The truth is that marijuana is widely used in a manner quite similar to alcohol. Adults might consume it before enjoying a dinner party with friends. Friends might have a little before engaging in a spirited game of ultimate Frisbee. And spouses – yes, even some couples you know – might imbibe a bit while enjoying a romantic evening together.
