Mary Sadie Research Paper
Mary Sadie is a thirteen years old, 2004, champagne colored, Honda Accord. The chipped champagne paint covering her body is fading but Mary Sadie is brighter than ever in my eyes. Over the past two years, my car and I have experienced road trips across the Causeway, to Baton Rouge, to the beach, through the broken roads of Lakeview, and countless trips to the French Quarter, which have truly strengthened our bond with each other. Just because a car is old and used, does not mean that it sucks, is one of the many valuable lessons that I have learned from owning my first car, along with many adventurous experiences that I will cherish for my entire life.
I bought my car from my great aunt in the month of June 2015. The first time I sat behind the wheel of Mary Sadie, I remember the car driving much differently than the huge SUV that I learned to drive on. The breaks on Mary Sadie are much more sensitive, which caused my dad and I to fly forward when I drove my car for the first time. About a week flew by and I was

All her little peculiarities are displayed through the chevron cover on her wheel, the air fresheners that fill the air, the bumper stickers that cover her body, and all her other little quirks that make her special to me. When I got my first car, I was suddenly making excuses to drive anyone, at any time of day, and wherever they needed to go! The eagerness I had to drive first started when I got my license and it only got worse when I got my own car. Other memorable experiences consisted of my arrogance being torn down into a million pieces after getting into my first wreck, getting my first ticket, and getting my first flat tire. Every single one of the memories made and experiences gained from my first car were unforgettable and knowledgeable because I made memories and mistakes that I learned from and will remember

I got in the car anyways seeming confident thinking that maybe I wouldn’t be as horrible as I thought.…

Out of all the material items I possess, I would have to call my first car my one true prized possession. Veronica, as I often refer to her is rusty black and has more than a few bruises. Pretty much a replica of the stereotypical teenager’s first car. Possessions like these often are seen as junk to the rest of the world, but in one person’s heart it remains an invaluable treasure. For myself, I was lucky enough to find that one hidden gem in a 1998 Ford Contour. In my eyes it will be forever priceless because it is not the exterior value of the car that matters, but the long road of experience it has carried me on. My car has taught me more than I expected in such a short time, but above all it has given me memories, a feeling of responsibility, and taught me that hard work pays off.…

My mother sat in the passenger seat scrutinizing the car continuously as the salesman sat back comfortably in the back-seat rattling of facts on the like a regular machine, trying to add more value with each sentence. I blocked them both out, in that moment there was only me and the car, it moved calmly out of the lot, no rattling sounds or an overabundance of engine clutter. There are many moments that are special in life, I’ve heard people talk about, their first kid, going to the prom and even getting married; this was my moment, when I was behind that wheel it was as if the whole world just faded away. I no longer paid attention to the verb back and forth between my mother and salesman, no all that mattered now was the ride. I was one with the car, every purr, every puff of the wind that flowed past its smooth exterior and it was in this moment that I knew I had found my first…

“Driving Miss Daisy” directed by Bruce Beresford has several social psychology principles present in its 1950’s story line. Revolving around a growing friendship between two distinct characters; Daisy is provided with a chauffeur thanks to her son Boolie. At the start of the movie self-serving cognitions are exhibited by Daisy when she crashes her car into the neighbor’s yard. I bought my Chevy Cobalt on Halloween 2006. On that particular fall day, all the warm colors that the season had to offer were essentially highlighted by the brightness of my yellow car. As time passed, I began to notice that everyone would stare at me when I drove by or pulled into a parking lot. I was wondering what all the fuss was about, so I stepped back and looked at my car. At that moment I had actually fell in love with distraction that I had just purchased.…

I slid into the cream pleather bucket seat, strapped the old black seatbelt across my chest, adjusted the mirrors, put one of the two keys for the vehicle into the ignition, stepped on the clutch, turned the key and felt the rumble and shake of the snorting engine. I set the CD face plate in its niche and tuned to my favorite station. I gazed over at my dad thinking, “I did it! I had purchased my car on my own!” I could barely hear my thoughts over the sound of the engine, but my smile stretch from ear to ear. I had proven to my chauvinist dad that I was a financially sufficient woman, and able to afford all the responsibilities of car ownership.…

“Mother is that car for me” I yelled across the street when I saw my favorite car roll up on the driveway. I could not believe my eyes, was I seeing okay or was I hallucinating. As she stepped out of the most luxurious automobile in the world my mouth snapped right open. I reached in and sat in the car that I had always fanaticized about the Rolls Royce.” Mother how did you afford such car for me” I asked curiously. My mother explained that we had won the lottery; I now knew that from now on our life was about to change forever.…
