A BRAND NEW ENDING

Landslides… flashfloods… pollutions… destruction of ozone layer… too hot… too cold… not enough to mention all, we have been experiencing and we had even entered into discussion of these. And in search for our lives, we are aware of these things and we are affected of these occurrences. It has been so many years and we have been exploring the environment for very long time not to mention those years that we are innocent of everything. Now we had grown up with experiences, big enough to understand things we have done and we have to be done. Who would have forgotten the story a girl, who cried a river and drowned the whole world? She looks so sad in photograph and thinks no one love her. How many days are there in a year? She woke up with hope but it was all about tears. She heard promises never for real. She’s suffering from every lies. Many days disappeared and still most were not sincere. She waited for us. Then came the day the river she cried over flowed and killed the love ones of our Creator. It was the day we heard her shriek, her – our mother earth. There you can watch for the sudden gushing forth of water. The day when spontaneous storms hit our country, whacked our environment and destroyed everything. We made ourselves suffer for our fault. It is sad to say that many lives were gone, sad to say that many homes were destroyed and it is sad to say that these things should happen before we lend our hands to our mother earth. We are not scientist from the lab just waiting for a call… we are the scientist given a knowledge from God that needs to get out from the lab and move before any call. After that tragic caused by our shallow minds, it is sad to say that this happened because we are encourage to be obsess with the triviality of our own interest – of our only success. We advocate selfishness. We are taking things for granted… we are abusing our resources… we are

We see animals every day. They are our pets, companions, and, to some, family. They are also our dinner, new jacket or bag, and the pain behind our household products. So when does it qualify as cruel, or even inhumane? What is animal cruelty? According to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) “Intentional cruelty, or abuse, is knowingly depriving an animal of food, water, socialization, or veterinary care. Maliciously torturing, maiming, or killing an animal.” Three major examples of animal cruelty today are found in the food industry, shelters, and testing facilities.…

Imagine constantly being asked “Why can’t you just pull yourself together?” Being told “You have nothing to be depressed about, you have so much going for you!”, “But you don’t SEEM depressed, you were just laughing an hour ago!” For those struggling with many of life’s abundant obstacles, suicide seems like the ideal compromise for the self-destruction and agony to end. I believe that suicide is not the answer because I’ve overcome it myself. I’ve had to learn in the most difficult of ways that suicide is exceedingly traumatic for the friends and family members. 90 percent of people who have taken their own life have a diagnosable mental disorder. There are countless alternatives for people who struggle with these disorders, long before suicide is even being contemplated.…

Being born in a very small and boring city, Angel Quiles didn’t think it was really all that fun. There were times that he just stayed home all day doing nothing but watch television, play video games, or practice his instruments. It wasn’t until he was eleven, when he had to move to Florida so that he could be closer to his father. He was raised to be a Catholic, but all of that changed when his Father took him to his Pentecostal church one Sunday morning. He couldn’t help but notice so many people crying, shaking, and running around the whole church like it was a playground. Also, while the service was happening, there were so many people swaying their hands from side to side, shouting out “Glory to God” and “My soul worships you Jesus.” He wasn’t used to that. He thought to himself “these people are crazy,” because in Catholic churches they recite verses from the bible, sing quietly, and sit down the whole entire service. There were a lot of times when he thought to himself “this isn’t a church, because these people are acting like it’s a carnival or an amusement park.”…

English was always a challenge for me because I grew up in China and that was my first language i’ve ever learned to write and speak. So coming to the U.S. and learning a brand new language wasn’t the easiest thing for me to do. After fourteen years of being here I still occasionally have a hard time with writing papers, using correct punctuation, and grammar. Even with struggling to write papers I still did pretty good in my english classes in high school, except my freshman and Sophomore year. This all began late August 2009 when I first started high school.…

That event came from nowhere, it wasn’t anticipated by me. I was living a quotidian life, doing what I used to do, not trying anything new. It was July and I was busy enjoying the vacations. July often brings some rough weather with itself, but living in Karachi was the safest of all. However, I seldom found some news about lethal storms and heavy rainfalls in the rest of the country, but it didn’t bother me as I was safe by His blessing. One morning, I woke up and turned on the T.V, it wasn’t long when I was left perplexed by the destruction done by the heavy rainfalls. Deluge of water fell from the sky and took the face of a devastating flood that wiped out a major part of the state. Pakistan was always known to be an agricultural state, but those fields on which our state’s agriculture relied all the years were all adversely affected. But it wasn’t for the fields that got me to think, it was the number of deaths and casualties of my fellow nationals. Their homes were gone, they had no food, no shelter and then the flood and rainfalls made the situation worse for them. It was no more than a catastrophe for them, surviving in such apocalyptic situation was unimaginable.…
