Nurse Practitioner Admission Essay
For the longest time, I have known that I want to be a Nurse Practitioner. As a young kid I, would play doctor and take care of my siblings or toys and just look after them, it was not until I was in High School when I actually discovered what I wanted to do as a career. I started volunteering at our hospital Marian Regional Medical Center, where my eyes opened to the idea of actually working in the healthcare industry. My time volunteering I had acquired some knowledge of what a Registered Nurse did, I volunteered on the ICU and CCU (Intensive Care Unit, and Critical Care Unit), Med Serg., Emergency Room, Wellness and Rehabilitation Center, and Labor and Delivery floor; where I would do little task like change linen sheets, complete and make

A degree in Nursing could help me follow the path that I have wanted to obtain, for myself and for my family. As a first generation, there are high expectations for me to achieve and continue my studies to provide my sisters with a role model. Picking a college to attend was a pretty big deal to my parents than it was for me, for instance, they wanted me to attend a school that would provide me with a lot of financial aid, a school where it is small enough that I do not blend in, and a school that is known for their Nursing program. With that it lead me to this university, knowing that a small institute would provide me with a better outlook rather than a larger university. My experience so far has been a roller coaster, mostly downs. It was a big transition, going from high school where everything is given to you and you follow the material, to a setting where you have to set yourself and prioritize on what is important and disciplining yourself. The material is quite different as well, in high school, we went over the general and basics of a material while in college we review the basics but go even further into the
