PEOPLE CAPABILITY MATURITY MODEL

People Capability Maturity Model is a framework that emphasizes on the development of the workforce of an organization. It enables the organization in developing, organization, motivating and retaining its employees. This framework is a set of practices when implemented brings improvement in the capability of an organization. These practices are referred to as workforce practices. It is based on the maturity framework of the capability maturity model.
It is a change model which transforms the organization to adapt to the changes which have taken place.
PCMM consist of 5 maturity levels, at each level new set of practices are added. PCMM measures the extent to which an organization is matured, using the kind of workforce practices it follows. The more mature an organization is, the greater is its ability to develop and retain its workforce. The PCMM is a process oriented model i.e. it assumes that the practices a company follows can be improved continuously using the same set of practices that have been used to improve other business.

Each maturity level consist of certain best practices, when implemented creates new capabilities which enhance the workforce.
Initial Level
Level 1 is the initial level where there are no better workforce practices applied by the company. The company faces a lot of problems retaining its talented employees. Employees are not attached to the company or they don’t relate to the company. There would be a lot of inconsistencies in implementing the workforce practices.
Managers in such kind of organizations usually do not share a common vision. They often lack people skills and do not focus on improving the abilities of

    The models of change that I have chosen to describe are the ADKAR model and Kotter’s 8 step change model. The ADKAR model is mainly used to help identify and drive change as well as a tool to understand any gaps that are needed to strengthen along the change process.
