Sounds pretty similar to the agency I work for but it sounds like you had a lot more training then we did. Oddly, I was never asked or told to shadow anyone however, I did have a few nurses shadow me. I asked these nurses about it and they told me they weren’t getting paid for their time and I thought that was a little bizarre. I’m guessing that many agencies do not pay people for training after hearing your experience was similar to…

As I was looking for a Physician Assistant program I focused on three main things: research, prestige, and location. I was fortunate enough to discover that Yale PA program exceeded my expectations. As a clinical research assistant, I have had the pleasure to work with great clinicians (doctors and physician assistants alike) who have graduated from Yale Medical School and Yale PA program. Their perseverance, ability to react efficiently and decisively in difficult situations are some of the many qualities that Yale highlights and solidifies in its programs. Furthermore, shadowing one of the physician assistants who graduated from the Yale program gave me a better insight on the rigorously, expectations, and preparations of Yale PA program.…

A career as a physical therapist assistant involves having patience, commitment, and passion. A few years ago, my mom was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy and was referred to a physical therapist. She was in pain, frustrated, and did not believe she was ever going to be back to normal. The physical therapist assistant (PTA) guided her through the exercises and gave her the confidence needed to survive the difficult journey to recovery. As part of my experience with mom, I had an insight into the essential hands on role of a PTA.…
I have chosen the career path of working in the human service field because of my passion for helping people with their various needs and problems. I feel it is the best suitable choice for me because the human service field is so vast with different job opportunities like youth worker, probation officer, group home worker, social work assistant, substance abuse counselor (which I’m getting my bachelor’s in), and many other job opportunities. Working in the human service field is going to help me make difference in not only other people’s life’s but my own.…
When I graduated from high school, I did not want to go to school. I wanted to have a job. So my uncle took me to ROP school to find if there were any occupations that I wanted to do. There were a lot of classes that looked really interest to me, but one of the classes looked really fun. It was Medical Back Office Assistants.…
During the summer I worked at a nursing home to gain some experience in the healthfield. Working as a certified nursing assistant really helped me grow and it is one of the most rewarding jobs I’ve had, it also was very challenging at times. As I said before I struggle with anxiety, but working as a nursing assistant pushed me to overcome some of the fears I had of communicating. I learned really quick when working in a nursing home you strongly need the ability to have good communication skills because without it you can’t communicate with the charge nurses, the residents or the other C.N.A’s. Everyday that I worked there I used different forms of communications such as body language which I learned says a lot about what a person is feeling.…
When I was a child, I always wanted to be a combat pilot. Was that what I really…
After speaking to my amazing residential assistant she informed me that she loved everything about her job. Her other co-workers, the building, the students, and her employer. Not every day you can get this type of information from a worker. She also informed me on the good and the bad qualities of her job and why she appreciates both because both have shaped her to be the best Resident Assistant she can be through experiences. A few of her experience were slightly weird but it was astonishing how she has grown and handled each situation according to the rule book and her job description.…
Moving from a mentor to a program team member is a huge step because there are more expectations that I must execute. Instead of guiding my mentees, I now have to take the next step to guide the future peer mentors. Although being a program team member involves a lot of work and planning, this will help me become a stronger and more independent person which will help me succeed in my future career. It takes a better leader to go through training of how jobs must be done, and that’s why I’m here.…
