Personal Narrative: My Personality Assessment
Introduction
After I took the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator personality test, along with the twelve self-assessment I took from my management text book. I learned a lot about myself and my personality type. Each one of those assessments gave me a unique feedback based on my answers to the questions. It highlighted some of the qualities I know I have, also some of qualities I need to improve on to be successful in my future career. This assessments allowed me to reflect on my personality, values, motivation, decision-making, and emotional intelligence.
Insight
After going through the criteria of all of the topics in the assessment, I honestly did not know what the assessment was talking about or what it meant. After looking at it closely I gained a better understanding of the message it

Some of the self-assessment results I do not agree with, though it got me thinking if it might be one of the qualities I lack without knowing about it. One thing I know about myself is that I’ve come a long way in both my professional and personal relationships. Many of the accomplishments in my life I can attribute to my love for growth and productivity that were inherited and adopted from my parents and teachers. I developed a set of principles early in life that are close to my heart. I mostly agree with my results from the MBTI assessment. It reflects that my personality type is “ISTJ”, which is Introversion, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging. Introversion tend to be inward turning, or focused more on internal thoughts, feelings and moods rather than seeking out external stimulation.. My result reflects that I got a score of 1 out of possible 30, which means that I am only a slight introvert. Even though it takes me time to communicate

My story beings like any other, at the moment I took my first breath on July 30th 1998 in Bilisht, Albania. I was born in a small town in the lower region of Albania where my entire family lived with my grandparents under one household. My parents soon came to the realization that the current living situation was incongruous for a new family, such as ours, to thrive. As the result, my parents chose to apply for the government program granting our family access to move into a completely new society with new laws, regulations, political aspects and that was tens of thousands of miles away. Our family, at that instant, had a struck of luck as my mother’s name was drawn for us to move to the greatest country the United States of America.…

Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…

The Myers-Briggs personality type test is one of most used and respected psychological assessments. It contains 16 different personality types and is suppose to represent all the different types of personalities in the world. It is not uncommon for businesses, government jobs and other institutions to incorporate the test to see whether an individual would fit into the culture and atmosphere of the company. According to the test, I am a ESTJ (Extravert(31%), Sensing(1%), Thinking(28%), Judging(28%)), which matched some famous people such as John D. Rockefeller. I was surprised by how accurate the description of the suggested personality style matched my own.…

A personal quality that is important to me is my willingness to try new things. This quality did not surface until I graduated high school-- I felt somewhat restricted during those years. After my first semester at community college the eagerness to explore new activities, and learn about new topics began to appear. Because of this quality-- a quality that can sometimes hide amongst the rest-- I would not have discovered by passion for my desired major.…

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a self-assessment developed by Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers based on Carl Jung personality theory (Capraro & Capraro, Aug 2002). The purpose of MBTI is to measure ones personality preference as a way of determining individuals best fit for environment and career (Furnham & Stringfield, 1993). It uses a scale of four pairs of opposites: Extroverts/Introverts (EI), Sensing/Intuition (SN), Thinking/Feeling (TF), and Judging/Perceiving (JP) to describe the preferred attitudes or orientations of individuals (Michael, 2003). This assessment proposes that the four pairs of opposite produce 16 qualitative types of descriptors (McCrae & Costa, 1989).…

My Myers-Briggs Type Indicator profile is Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving or INFP. In a professional setting I am usually a catalyst and focus more on the growth of people rather than the growth of the organization. My optimistic outlook, ability to genuinely empathize, and proficiency in adapting to various communication styles makes me highly affable and influential in the spread of ideas. I am also able to translate technical, hard to understand information into layman’s terms (Blumenthal, 1991; Butt, n.a.-c; Butt, n.a.-d)In an academic setting I learn best when I receive or am able to find an in depth explanation regarding the subject and any questions pertaining to it. I’m happy with who I am today, just as everyone should be. But if I could change anything about myself, I’d want to have more motivation to do things. In the mornings before school I can barely get out of bed because I’m so tired and don’t want to go to school. I’m exceedingly intelligent but I don’t have any drive. I procrastinate on most of my work, and sometimes I just don’t want to do the work. Right now I’m rank 14 in my class but I could’ve been higher if I had any drive my freshman year. I don’t think about how my decisions now will impact me later and when I do, I don’t really care. I also don’t have much motivation to do things in sports activities. Last year I played volleyball and I never had that much playing time. Never being able…

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Are you pleased, or do you immediately come up with an endless list of insecurities? As a child one of my favorite memories was laying around the house with my older sister on rainy days. We would leave the windows open so we could hear the rain coming down on the tin roof over our patio, while watching reruns of our favorite tv show “America's Next Top Model”. I always thought that these women were gorgeous and I would catch myself constantly comparing their looks to my own. I wanted to be just like them until I realized the unrealistic expectations that they had to live up to. A sizeable butt and breasts, but not too large; they have got to be proportional. A skinny waist, impeccable hair, blemish free face although even with clear skin you are expected to cake on makeup because no one is actually pretty without mile long eyelashes, the perfect smoky eye, and exemplary contouring. Society has idolized these things as “beautiful” and shamed the girls that do not meet these standards; however, society should be making everyone feel confident in their bodies. Girls need to know that it is okay not to have an “hourglass figure” so they don’t…

In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before. I think by having one key being touched, the other key can hear because on page 153 Claudia says she breathed and rubbed on the key making it warm and on page 154 Finn says when he touches the key it's warm.I like the way the author wrote the scene from both perspectives, it gave us the readers a clearer understanding of how both Finn and Claudia felt. I also like how the author described the way both keys affect each other and have a "key" connection.…

My greatest influences are my parents and my brother. My brother suffered from Guillain- Barre Syndrome when he was eight. He lived in the hospital on an artificial ventilation for 97 days and later he had to continue physical therapy for at least ten years as he was completely paralyzed. My parents and my brother devoted their few years completely for his treatment. Today, my brother is a successful engineer working in the bay area. I learned that with dedication, determination and diligence we can achieve our dream in life…

My mother, “Regina Hopkins,” has been a positive influence in my life. She has raised 6 kids all by herself as well as earned a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a City College in Gainesville, Florida. My mother has been through pretty much everything a person can go through outside of war and was still able to be there and provide for all 6 of her kids. In high school, my mother wanted to play football and couldn't because she was a girl and back-in-the-day women were not allowed to play football with the guys. However, she remained strong by raising 6 kids and independently took care of all of us on her own. My mother has several qualities that I would love to develop. The first quality she has is balance; she certainly knows how to make…

A major theme in my life is improvement. I challenge myself to take risks and set high expectations for myself. For instance, I strive to run faster and for longer distances every couple of times I approach the treadmill belt. I am obstinate about my minimum distance, 2.2 miles, and my minimum speed, 6.8. A major component of improving myself is learning. Every new word is a miniscule enhancement of my massive English vocabulary pool, but it is still a step in the right direction. I enjoy becoming more knowledgeable in both domestic and international affairs. I wish I could have more time to pour into reading current event and health articles. I am particularly attached to drumming the latest scientific discovery or innovate biotechnology product…

Honesty, authenticity, genuineness, bravery, and valor are my top strengths. I was shocked by these results not only because I feel they are extremely accurate, but these are the things I value most in life, especially honesty, I feel that you can hate a man to the core, but if that man is a truly honest man you can only respect him. I want to be an epitome of a truly honest man, and I believe my character strengths will help me achieve this goal. My bottom strengths were the love of learning, self-control, and regulation. I feel these strengths are just as important as my top strengths, and I need to maximize them all in order to become a great leader. There aren’t many personality tests in this world that I would consider authentic, but the results that I gathered from the Jung Typology test were very accurate. My results concluded that my personality type is INTJ. When analyzed, this test interprets that I obtain distinctive qualities ranging equally high on the introverted and judging side, scoring a 67%. Also, my results confirmed that I portray moderate intuitive traits ending in a score of 25%, and a much expressed thinking personality with a score of 88%. To be quite honest, I really didn’t learn much about myself in the process of doing this test. Even with the “on-the-money” results that I received, I was already aware of these traits that I possess. Furthermore, the reason for this is probably because of the simple fact that I know I am an INTJ; INTJ’s are predominately on the introverted side, and are very “in-tune” with their bodies, knowing exactly what they’re made and capable of. This is the very same reason I wasn’t too surprised when I read my results either. However, the Jung Typology test, if carried out properly, should break-down anyone’s specific personality traits, thus giving them results that sound something like they already perceive themselves. Then again, it could render results that could completely surprise someone. In my case, I already knew what was coming, yet another quality of the intuitive and thinking style I have. I should be able to apply these results to my college career fairly easily for the very same reasons. In addition, INTJ’s can also be perceived as being cold-hearted. It is sometimes hard for INTJ’s to show…
