The Person I Admire Most, and Why
Throughout grade school, I was an average student in academic subjects, partly because I was embarrassed about my accent. Things were even worse in P.E. I always tried to hide when my classmates picked teams for sports because I felt so awkward. When we played baseball or kickball, I always seemed to stumble in front of my classmates. Because I believed I was horrible at physical activities, without really even trying, I had no confidence and felt embarrassed about performing in front of others. Soon I even lost what confidence I had in the classroom and stopped raising my hand to answer questions, even when I knew the answer.
My seventh grade year started off just the same. But, in spring semester when track season started, everything changed. That's when I encountered the person I admire the most, the person to whom I attribute my success as an athlete and my belief in myself. He recognized a hidden talent in me and encouraged me to develop it.
That person is my seventh grade P.E. instructor, Coach García. One afternoon, during P.E., Coach García marched us onto the track and divided us into groups for relay races. He started talking, and the first thing I noticed was that he spoke with an accent, too. But soon I started paying more attention to what he was saying how teamwork is such an important element for the relay race because we would have to pass the baton to our teammates. He could see that I was hanging back. Every time he said, "Remember, do your best because your teammates need you," he seemed to be talking directly to me!
At the practices, I kept hearing his phrase, "Your teammates need you." Even though I couldn't see how my teammates would need me, since I could never seem to play any sport, when we went to our first track meet, I decided to test Coach García's theory. When I received the baton, I darted away from the starting line, running as fast as I could. I pushed myself that day, something I had never done before in P.E. I started off so fast that I gave my team a great lead, and we won the race. At the end of the meet, Coach García complimented and encouraged me. He told me I was agile (the first thing I did when I got home was look the word up), said I would be great at other track events, and invited me to run the 100-meter dash for Sun Valley Middle School in the district's track meet.
Since seventh grade, I have garnered 22 first-place ribbons from track competitions. Coach García has been with me in every single race in which I have competed - not physically, of course. However, I hear his inspiring words each time I am at the starting block and before I cross the finish line. In hindsight, I can see that my seventh grade year was a pivotal point in my life. My involvement in athletics changed and set the tone for the rest of my school years. My successes in athletics raised my self-confidence, and that carried over into the classroom. I stopped worrying about my accent, and started asking questions and commenting in class. My teachers started paying more attention to me, and my grades improved. For these reasons Coach García is one of the people I admire most. I am thankful that he wouldn't let me hide behind my teammates, that he saw something in me that encouragement, practice, and confidence - and teamwork - would bring out.
Now, a senior in high school, I continue to run track, and I have been rewarded for this talent with many awards. Yes, Coach García inspired me to do my best in track, but he also put me on the right track to do well in the rest of my life.

There have been several people who have a great influence on my life but only one is a person I really admire- my mother. I admire my mother because of her morals, some of the obstacles she has overcome, and for all she has done for me in my life. She is simply different from all other parents. She is a psychologist. She works with people with special necessities and with children. She is a leader and not a follower and the difference is that as a leader and not a follower is dependable, supportive, and attentive. My mother was always there to help anyone no matter what it was. Hard work is part of her life, but still she is smiling all the time. Her life can be a good example of a person who suffered a lot, but never asked for help as asking for help is a symbol of weakness for her. She always advises me “Don’t feel helpless in life and try to live your life in a way that people who are related to you look at you with pride and respect”. She is a good and human person. She helps other people to solve their problems. In my opinion, her job is one of the hardest jobs, but she feels good… she enjoys a lot because she loves the feeling of being helpful……

A person who I admire is an interesting topic. I believe you can admire more than one person. A typical admiration I have seen is when people boy, are admiring a very famous singer, actor etc. although it is typical, it is still a good admiration because you can use that person as your role model or idol. Fx. If your role model is a sportsman, then you can admire his performing skills, and maybe learn something from him or her. But trough my life I have admired many persons, friends, older people, teachers, etc. All these people have given me experiences and personal abilities which I have acquired with help from them. My opinion is that I cannot admire one person specially. When I admire someone I respect the person’s character. After my experience I also admire someone when I am in his presence. A person who can change a bad day to a good day, fx my mother. My mother is defiantly one of my top 3 list over admired persons. Just imagine without your mother you would not exist. Everyone should admire how housemothers are struggling to raise there children’s. I am indeed of her proud of my mother, it is because of her that I am that what I am today. When I always have been in a bad mood my mother opened up my minds to look at things in a different perspective. Fx when I has had a problem she shared her experiences with me and learned me to tackle every situation. Another important person who I likes to admire is my father. A father and a mother is an admirable couple that forms a basis of a children’s life. My parents are like advisers, I can talk to them when I need help. They are motivating me to achieve my goal. I promised myself when I grow older and start a family, i will tell my children’s about my childhood and how I admired my parents. At least my expectation for myself is that I can be a loved parent. I really hope that I will have the same kindness that my parents have. My parents taught me that I can have a good life in 2 ways. The…

I have a lot of people I look up to, but the one person who stands out the most is my mother. She has taught me more things than anybody else I know. Things that I will keep with me for a lifetime. Like how to keep on pushing even though I feel like giving up. She taught me how to be confident and believe in myself and not to let negativity bring me down. She taught me early on that there is a difference between what I want and what I need and material objects aren’t everything but that doesn’t mean I can’t spoil myself from time to time. It has helped me to keep balance in my life so wouldn’t over spend on things I didn’t need.…
