Problems of My High School
High school is the best time to me.
High school helps students enrich knowlegde, make friends and participate in many school activitees.
Although I enjoy going to school, there are three problems that my school should solve as soon as possible.
First, the buildings in my school were under unacceptable condition for students to study. Despite the new shiny yellow paint, the leaky ceilings in the classroom of the fourth floor bothered everyone. When it rained, the water dropped through the leak and it made the floor slippery. Everyone had to make a mental note to be careful in walking or running. My school’s gym was ill-equipped, too. It was rarely used and cleaned. We only had PE class there when it rained. Thus, my school didn’t consider that it is important to improve it.
Second, inspite of the reputation of good teaching skills in the past, our school’s teachers’re going down in quality. The young teachers lacked both of teaching skills and experiences. They used old teaching methods which made the lessons become boring. Some of them were too strict and scared students. Some of them were not enthusiastic in helping the students after class. They thought that when the bell rang, their duties were done. Whenever being asked for help, they seemed to hesitate and then made an excuse for their unwillingness. Since then, we didn’t come to ask them for help anymore.
Finally, the last problem of my school was the students. They oftern formed cliques depended on the personal popularities, the finance of student’s family or the similar personalities or hobbies. At the end of the first year in high school, we can idenify clearly any groups by looking at them. The groups never let anyone join them unless that person had to be like them and follow the rules of the cliques. However, the most terrible thing was that some students involved with drugs such as cigarettes and other illegal drugs. During the break, I saw them smoking shamelessly in the corridors. Unfortunately,

In the article " Our Schools Must Do Better" by Bob Herbert basically telling readers our school system needs more improvements. Bob Herbert mentioned in the article "The first is teacher quality, a topic that gets talked about incessanlty." The first thing that came in my mind how teachers needs to also work hard with their students. All teachers from different levels of grades should b able to push their students to work harder. Some Schools has teachers who just let their students do what ever they want, and not even make to the next grade level. Bob Herbert also mentioned how " Studies have clearly shown that good teachers and the not-so-good ones can ususally be identified." Teachers should always want to show the parnets that thier children are in good hands. He basically wants to improve on the school environment.…

Currently the school is in a bit of disarray. The physical plant is not taking care of the issues that were affecting the school. There is furniture in the hallways and the building reeks of urine. The current administration is lacking as well. The current record keeping is a mess. There is no real structure to ensure record-keeping or to keep track of students’ academic achievement or advancement. An even bigger problem is that there is no accountability for the teachers. Teachers are also straying away from the core SOLs, they take field trips that are not related to subjects at hand. Logistically speaking, grade levels are not in the same wings providing a deterrent for engaging teachers to help one another, and student interaction. Another issue is that students are not scoring well on the SOLs.…

When high school is more focused on athletics and popularity, it is absolutely no wonder that the academic scores of the students are falling short. High school institutions give adolescents every opportunity to create new and dangerous vices, simply for the sake of ‘being cool’ or ‘fitting in.’ Young adults forced into these institutions very rarely find enjoyment in it, and those who do succeed are facing increasing amount of stress due to peer pressure, popularity, and other things. For example, a student from Broder’s article said, “My high school was swamped with drugs- and so was I” (para. 14). Students cannot be expected to learn when they are subjected to such a distracting environment.…

Our school needs to have luxuries. We would all like a netflix area somewhere in the school. It is not going to be free time, but it is going to be a class. Food courts are a big deal for our school. Not everybody likes the school lunch and would like to choose their own lunch. We need Pizza Hut, Subway, and McDonalds. Schools need hot tubs in classes year round. Hot tubs will help you stay warm during the school year. Luxuries might be expensive, but it is worth it.…

The strongest temptations for youngsters’ drug abuse are usually because of the adolescents are curious. Given the easy availability of drugs, the temptation is really hard to resist. Some of them are looking for extreme excitement caused by drugs, it is also one of the main reasons that the youngsters take up this habit. Young people may turn to drugs as they want to escape from their personal problems or relieve a physical pain and in time they may become dependent on drugs. Also, youngsters like to form groups. The Premont Independent School District had to “seal off the science labs, which were infested with mold” (Ripley 11). In addition, “the elementary school hadn't had a music class in years” (Ripley 11). Premont could have spent their money on improving classroom needs instead of on athletics. Overall, a student’s school experience could be ruined because people emphasize sports more than their academic needs.…

    Improving Schools

There are many improvements that can be made to our school. These improvements will progress the school into a higher grade of learning for students. There are many different facets to our school and small, inexpensive, environmentally friendly changes need to be made. Making changes to the school will help the students achieve higher grades, and therefore have even more university and college acceptance. Improvements such as free internet, a library on campus and free parking will for sure be solutions with a positive aftermath. My first suggestion to improving the school is free internet. Internet can be a positive solution for those students in St.Louis that English is not their first language. They can access translation sites to help them better understand the reading material and course assignments. Diagrams for courses with maps and graphs can be accessed on the internet. This will save paper for teacher, therefore creating a more environmentally friendly place and also will help students see the diagrams first hand in colour. We have decided as a democratic society that education is a right, with this right we must provide the tools to make it accessible, the internet will further progress students learning in variable ways. My second suggestion is that we have a library on campus. Through the library we can borrow books; this is a great solution to those who can’t afford to buy books. Buying books outside of school can be expensive and what can you do with them after you read them, borrowing them for the library is a simple and environmentally friendly solution. The library is a good place also to work on assignments and group projects on the lunch hour, this helps students get the work done and hand it in on time and also provides a work space other than their house. In addition to the above point, since we decided education is a right, it is imperative that a library be added for those who can’t afford a computer, internet etc. A library is a place for…

In schools today, we face many problems as students: having free will, being rebellious, and expressing ourselves. There are a vast amount of different problems and we all deal with them differently in school. A problem at Shepherd High School is the open campus lunch rule. During lunch, driving should be allowed. Having the ability to drive during lunch can benefit for more business in the Shepherd community from all the the students’ purchases. Also, the time during lunch is extremely limited and should be extended. If change is made to the open campus rules, the change should be a privilege for the junior and senior classes. Driving for junior and senior classes during open campus lunch should be allowed at Shepherd High School.…
