Proposal by
Health Club on the Activities for Arousing students’ awareness of a Clean School Environment

A. Introduction After the threat of SARS, mostly people become more aware of the environmental cleanliness and also their self-cleanliness. However, students in our school still neglect the cleanliness of the school environment. In order to solve this problem, I suggest the school should hold some activities to arouse the Awareness of this topic. My ideas are as follows: B. Suggestion I. Inter-class Classroom cleanliness competition
The inter-class classroom cleanliness competition will be an effective way to arouse students’ attention about the cleanliness of the school environment. Students will need to clean their own classroom and during the competition, they can arouse their awareness of this topic and help to create a good and healthy learning environment for their school life.
The competition can be held in many ways. For example, teachers will give a mark for the class after each lesson .Also marks will be deducted if students didn’t follow the instruction of the competition. The marks will be collected and recorded for every semester. The class which has the highest mark in total will be award a trophy and prices. II. Inter-class Drama competition Besides a practical way for arousing the awareness of students’ cleanliness, a more interesting way is needed. As students in our school are keen on performing dramas, I am sure this will be another effective way to promote the

In order to establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment I first begin with providing a clean and organized classroom. All toys and equipment are sanitized on a daily basis, all outlets are covered and all fixtures are mounted to the walls to prevent from tipping over. Upon entering the classroom every parent is required to sign a daily health check in which the teacher and the parent both assess the health of each child. Healthy meals and snacks are provided to each and every child, keeping in mind, the allergies that each child has. Medicines are also carried for each student that requires it on a daily basis. The classroom tables are wiped down and sanitized and the floor is swept after each meal. The children also brush their teeth after meals to help the children gain healthy brushing habits. The teacher child ratio is maintained at all times.…

To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment I model safety practices and healthy routines in an environment that supports development and growth in these areas. My goal is to provide a clean healthy environment that meets each child’s physical needs. Making sure the classroom and playground are clean and safe at all times reduces the number of injuries of children while they are in my care. One of the ways I do this is by supervising children at all times. Making sure all outlets are covered so children can’t access them. I make sure inside as well as outside there is nothing children can harm themselves on such as sharp objects or small items they can choke on. I ensure that all chemicals and cleaning supplies are put away out of the reach of children or stored in locked cabinets. To establish and maintain a healthy environment is to prevent the spread of germs and promote healthy eating habits. Germs can be easily spread among the age group of children. One of the ways I promote a healthy environment is hand washing. I wash my hands and wear gloves before and after handling food, helping with toileting, changing diapers and cleaning noses. I have the children wash their hands during similar times and ensure that they do it properly. Cleaning and sanitizing play areas daily and mouthed toys are immediately removed from the play area and sanitized at the end of the day.…

Hygiene is a major part of our life, great hygiene within a school is vital to the successe of the school and the students within that school. Over the past few years Tyndale's school's hygiene has started to take a turn for the worse, espicaly within the middle school section of the campus. The multiple toilets the middle school have are pretty rank, they are kept in a horrible manner, with a horrible smell of uncleanlyness, a dirty run down look, and just run down cubicles with graffiti and marks where it has been damaged.…

One of my goals in the functional area of healthy is to model the importance of proper hygiene. I feel this is an important goal for preschool children because young children do not understand that good hygiene is the best way to avoid spreading infections and diseases. One of the ways I do this is by washing my hands before helping the children open their lunches, after coming in from outside, and any other time that my hands may be dirty. I help the children to properly wash their hands by incorporating hand washing techniques into my lesson planning (I have songs that they can sing, so that they are washing their hands for at least 20 seconds). I also make sure that children are using their own bedding. I sanitize and wash bedding weekly. I disinfect toys that may have been coughed and sneezed on immediately and wash or sanitize the rest of the toys biweekly. I request that parents bring healthy foods for their children’s lunches as well as removing allergens such as peanut butter. I sit with the children and model good eating habits.…

My high school has become an everyday landfill. This has no relation to the school administrators or teachers. Trash such as gum, plastic wrappers, and bottles was being littered haphazardly everywhere on school grounds; especially, in the cafeteria, hallways, and restrooms. The most inevitable issue in my high school was the problem with students littering their gums. Gum filled with germs and bacteria can be found on the grounds of the campus, under the desks, and chairs. My school had become very unpleasant and filthy. With the thought of helping the school, I made a short visit to my school's principal and advocated to start a "recycling" activity.…

Another major issue is the odour of the bathrooms which cause everyone to feel upset. This matter should be attended to as soon as possible. The students have complained of the foul odour and have described it as being repulsive, unbearable and disgusting. The odour makes the usage of the schools bathrooms even more uncomfortable. The odour is even more unbearable after lunch time as the intoxicating smell of faeces and urine fill the bathrooms and surrounding air. This is due to the lack of water and also to the toilets not flushing as they seem to be clogged.…
