Abstract
This paper describes what recruitment and retention are when relating them to employment. This paper describes some reasons why recruitment and retention are important to the employer and employee. Listed in this paper are many ways to recruit the right candidate and how that employer can retain that right candidate when they are hired.

Key words: recruitment, retention, employer, employee, candidate

I.) Introduction: The Right Person for the Long Haul
It is very important for an employer to hire the best candidate for the position they want to fill. The best candidate will have the education, experience, and traits that the employer sees best fit for the position in which the employer plans to fill. The right candidate is more likely to stay with the company for the “long haul”.
Before the candidates are even evaluated, the employer must first gather a list of criteria for what they want for an employee, what they expect from that employee, what education and/or experience they feel necessary to accomplish their work in a satisfactory manner and anything else that would be pertinent to that job position.
From this list of criteria, the employer or hiring manager can then post the job offer and begin to filter through the applicants and resumes using their criteria.
Gaining the right employee for the job is important to the company for longevity, employee commitment, job morale, lower turnover rates of employees and can also keep the costs at a minimum for recruiting. If the right person is hired and they had job satisfaction, the employer will not have to cover costs associated with replacing this employee in the future.

II.) Recruitment a. What is recruitment?
“The process of finding and hiring the best-qualified candidate (from within or outside of an organization) for a job opening, in a timely and cost effective
