SHOULD YOU LET YOUR KIDS EAT JUNK FOOD

Summery:
Charlotte Markey a health psychology professor at Rutgers University believes that it is better for parents to let children occasionally eat junk food. Results show that children who don’t get junk food to eat compared to those who occasionally eat junk food tend to get more tempted to eat them. Thus though limited but kids should eat some amount of junk food.
Thesis:
1) Should you let your kids eat junk food
2) You should let your kids eat junk food
3) Children should not be kept away from eating junk food because those of them who do not eat junk food are more likely to have a sort of a appeal for them while by eating a bit of unhealthy food they can eat more nutritious food. Mostly however life is too short you should enjoy it to the fullest.

Paragraph:
Many parents restrict their kids away from eating any type of junk food. Although their intentions are well meant, new studies have shown that kids who are kept away from eating even a small amount of junk food are usually more tempted to eat them whenever possible to make up for lost time. By keeping kids completely away from junk food the parents unknowingly push the children into a mind battle between their mind and their heart in which in most cases the temptation ends up winning. Also by letting them eat a bit of junk food you could negotiate a bit of healthy food and have a tradeoff. For example the parents can offer baked instead of fried chips. Another example could be “You can have some pretzels after eating some carrots.” Now the main reason children should be allowed to eat junk food is because life is short. As the saying goes “Live life to the fullest.” Kids should not have to feel guilty when they eat a bit of unhealthy enjoy what you eat just keep exercising.

    In David Zinczenko’s article “Don’t Blame the Eater” he focuses on the fast food industry and their role in the increasing health and obesity issues of our nation’s children, as well as these issues potentially becoming a serious problem that we will all have to deal with if we collectively don’t do something about it now. When it comes to the topic of fast food, most of us can agree that it is not the best source of nutrition. It is unhealthy and can be the cause of many serious health issues with our children such as obesity related Type 2 diabetes, stomach ulcers and even heart disease, high cholesterol, sleep apnea or even cancer. We can even agree that fast-food diets are a major contributing factor to the increasing rise in health care costs.
