single life verses married life
Writing has always been a real challenge for me. Although I consider myself to be a good writer, there are still many areas in the writing process that I need to work on so that I can continue to grow and prosper as a writer. One of the biggest hurdles that I face as a writer is devising a good thesis for my topic, a thesis that is interesting, clear, and sticks to my main idea. When, “Brainstorming” for possible ideas or topics for a paper I’m writing, my mind either goes blank, as if I suffer from, “writers block” or my topics are just too broad and don’t make sense. I also have problems with main points and sub-points. Writing complete sentences can be a real challenge for me. Hence, I’m not really good with subjects and verbs. I have a problem making subjects and verbs agree when writing a sentence. I usually tend to forget to insert either a subject or a verb or an independent clause when writing sentences, thus resulting in a fragmented sentence or a run-on sentence.

Another problem that I have is using punctuation marks correctly when writing sentences. For example: I know that a period is used to end a sentence or to signal an abbreviation, e.g. a.m., p.m.. It’s the exclamation points, apostrophes, and comma’s that get me. I’m not sure exactly where to place them or how to use them properly in a sentence so that my sentence makes more sense. There are still many areas in my writing process that need improvement if I want to continue to grow and

As a writer, I believe I have several strengths as well as challenges. Beginning with my strengths, I believe I have a passion for writing. When I write I make it easy to follow my train of thought from simple word selection to more complex thoughts. I also have my topics organized in a pattern designed for an easy flow from start to finish of what is written. While I strive to keep it simple, sometimes I have to get creative to capture and keep my readers attention. For my challenges, I believe my limited vocabulary may be a problem along with thoughts that do not convey any useful information. In order to improve my writing skills, I have to read, re-read, and re-read again to make sure I stick to the topic at hand.…

The key topic I have learned that plays a huge role in the writing process is confidence. When writers are confident about their piece and they really love the way it has turned out, then it shows through the entire paper. I always tell my dance students that if they show the audience how much they love dancing, then more people will want to watch them. And I think the same goes for…

A major factor that has contributed to this shift in my writing abilities is the process by which I write my papers. Before taking this course, I never saw the importance of prewriting, and I truthfully thought of it as a waste of time. However, I now consider it to be absolutely essential to my writing process. Through brainstorming, list making, and outlining I have learned to organize my thoughts into a structure that makes sense for the topics I write about. Not only does it help me to focus my ideas around a central topic, it also helps me to have better time management when writing papers. Before I started prewriting, I would wait until the last minute to write my entire paper. Prewriting helps me to take it a little bit at a time,…

One of the biggest challenges that might arise when I’m writing a paper are the errors that I would do in my words by miss spelling them, and the error that I sometimes write one thing, and my mind it thinking another thing. I also make a lot of error in my spelling because I think I wrote the word right and when I read over I see I wrote the words wrong. The second big error I make is that I don’t write a very good topic sentence, it takes me a long time to write a topic sentence or the main topic. I try to write a good main topic, and I take a long time trying to think about a good main topic. I write a couple of main topics, and I pick the one they sound best to me, but when I turn it in to the instructor it’s not a really good main topic.…

I knew what I was talking about, and I could just spill the information onto the paper. However, if I am writing about pretty much anything else, I feel like everything I am writing is not good enough. I get stuck after every sentence, kind of like I am right now. It’s hard for me to have a lot of opinions and things to say when I don’t know much about the subject. It’s hard for me to write about my writing process when I don’t really even know what my writing process is.…
