Student Housing Informative Speech
“Welcome to Smiley Hall I’m a freshman at UT studying economics. Today I’ll give you a tour of Smiley so you can see what it’s like to live here.” I must have watched this video over a dozen times. This is because the housing was the most important part for me. Once I arrived in Smiley, I just kept repeating the saying, because it was exactly what I remembered seeing in the videos. The Student housing at the University of Tampa has gone above and beyond what I was expecting, from the cost, diversity, and the security.
The University of Tampa went above and beyond with the cost of student housing. Many people doubt this statement, but if you look at all the facts, you will understand what I mean by this. My mom and I were initially shocked

From the housing in the Vaughn center, to the Boathouse, to the Palm Apartment. Not only can you pick the different types, but you can also decide if you want to get a single, double and triple. All the rooms, whether single, double or triple differ in size, depending on the building. Not only are there different rooms in the different halls, but even within the same hall, it can still be different. In Smiley for example, there are two distinct kind of singles, like in The University of Miami, except we have a standard single and a large single. From all the different kinds of people, there are many diverse types of places to live in. Whether you are an introvert, and want to be with only a few individuals or an extrovert and want to meet a whole bunch of different people every time you step out of your dorm room. A lot of people live in the dorms, and with that also comes with different personalities. These range from people who like partying on weekdays to people who do not do it at all. I know that my mom felt much better when she knew that I would be living on campus, a decision she felt was the right one, because the campus is very secure. One of the ways security is enforced is through the Student ID cards, which only allow students of who live in the different halls to get in. The problem with this is the fact that, people sometimes sit outside the doors and wait for someone to getting in to let them in. This is also done with the back doors closing at a certain time, to ensure that everyone that wants to maintain entry must use the main entrance, which has an RA seated at the desk to monitor the people that walk in and out. Despite this, people still call their roommates or friends to come and open the door for them, which is a little better because at least someone knows the person they are letting in. Additionally, Thursday till Sunday’s usually have a police officer seated at the front desk, to maintain

    I do not exercise because I do not want to sweat my hair out! My hair is easier to maintain and work when it is relaxed. I just can’t get enough of that creepy crack. These are some things African American women with relaxed hair have said at one point or another. Whether going natural or choosing to continue to use relaxers is a big decision. For those that have been relying upon relaxers for some time, going natural doesn’t have to be as scary as it seems. There are several ways to go natural and still have healthy hair, determining what your hair needs in terms of products and nutrients. Deciding to take the long road of the big chop or deciding to take the short road to transitioning where you gradually clip your ends every few months are factors that people find daunting when complex plating on an embark to a natural hair journey. Going natural or using relaxers has been a big debate in our communities over the last few years. Going natural has essential become a movement that some feel is here to stay while others feel as if it is just a phase. I can assure you that going natural is not as scary as it seem. By looking at my hair would you know that I was natural if I didn't tell you I was? Well I am and have been for two years now and I love it. I will not go back to a relaxer there is so much more for me to do with my hair now that I am natural than it would be if I had relaxed hair. If you choose to go natural you must first determine the nutrients and products your hair needs, because every person hair texture is different and what it might take for one’s head it might not take all that for the other.
