OFFICE HOURS:

Any student who wants to schedule an office conference must email a request at least 24 hours prior to the requested time for an appointment. Only those students who receive a confirmation email from me shall be scheduled for an office conference.

It is my practice to respond to class-related emails within 24 hours of receipt of a student’s email.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The focus of this course is to enhance the capacity of students to make difficult and necessary ethical choices on the basis of limited information and frequent conflicting values. In their future roles as professionals in a chosen field, students will face moral temptation and ethical dilemmas that resist easy answers or simple formulas for action. A major goal of this course is to develop an analysis of the important role of all stakeholders in a corporation. How the firm interacts with its environment, the impact on the firm as it discharges its responsibility to the world and local community will be extensively shared through case studies and community service projects.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Upon satisfactory completion of this course, a student should have the ability to:

Identify the contemporary American business model
Distinguish between various ethical principles
Resolve conflicts and develop policy within the stakeholder approach
Analyze ethical relativism and deal with its consequences
Apply ethical principals to current business problems
Choose among many environmental alternatives when
