Task C reflective account
I work in a nursing home for the dementia of the elderly and I understand that their upbringing and background was very different to how mine was, some of the service users have a very different view on life with their beliefs but I take into account that everyone has their own way of living and thinking for example sadly one of the services users past away last year and her close friend who also lives in the home wanted me to accompany her to her funeral in a church, even though I don’t believe in god I still took the time on my day off to take her and pay my respect and sang the songs throughout the lovely service, religion may affect people in different ways as we are taught differently and brought up in different ways by doing this it made me happy that I made a service user happy that she could attend.it is important that I remember that my personal preferences are different to others and that I can’t and will not try to change that, for example iv recently had a conversation with an elderly woman that I look after about cleanliness, she explained to me that when she was my age she only had a bath once a week and that was only on a Sunday, I explained to her my beliefs in how I have a bath daily and sometimes twice a day as that is how I was brought up, I asked her if she still would like to have a bath on a Sunday but she replied with she doesn’t really mind what day she has her bath but sometimes would like two.

Inclusive practice-
Inclusive practise is making sure that all service users are able to join in or attend any activity that is planned for example, a trip out for the day, service users that are unable to walk should never be excluded from the activity, there is a way of them going for example a specialised transport that is able to take a large amount of service users even If they are in a wheelchair.
Excluded practice-
Excluded practice is when service users are not treat the same or the person hasn’t taken into

To ensure that my practice is inclusive I make sure that when activities are organised for the service users in the conservatory there is something available for them all for example if the catholic church comes and there are some service users who do not wish to be included in the service could be moved to another lounge in the home to take part in activities they enjoy.…

Inclusive learning is about ensuring all your learners have the opportunity to be involved and included in the learning process. It’s also about treating all learners equally and fairly, without directly or indirectly excluding anyone. Inclusion is about attitudes as well as behaviour, as learners can be affected by the words or actions of others. You are not teaching you’re subject to a group of learners who are all the same, but to a group of individuals with different experiences, abilities and needs which should be recognised and respected. Agreeing individual learning plans (ILPs) and/or action plans can help formalise this. Source: Gravells, 2013.…

If these code’s of practice and legislations where not to be followed the consequences can be diverse. They can effect just one individual or can effect an entire team of social care workers. By not following the codes of practice and the legislation you could cause a s.u to feel discriminated against which would have negative effects such as making them feel isolated or un-heard and could lead to more problems that would effect the people around them as well as the individual . By not using inclusive practice you may find that the S.U might be put in a situation in which they are not happy which could make them act out in a way that could effect their future and how other team members interact with them. For example by failing to us an inclusive practice with an s.u by taking them to a public park, without first consulting or discussing this with the s.u they could miss out on important information such as the s.u being afraid of dogs, this could then lead to an incident due to there being dogs at the park. Which could cause s.u to raise of baseline, then a increase of precautions and restrictions around their day to…

What might you do differently in future or to improve the activity or adapt the activity and/or your practice for individual children’s needs or age-stage development My children are around the ages of 6/7 so they can play independently or in a group the arguments usually occur when there are lots of children playing a game for example football, so to prevent accusations such as cheating a teacher could define the rules and be a referee. |…

It is important to remember that my own personal preferences are different to others and I can't expect others to think, act and feel the same way as I do. For example I like to shower daily and some times twice daily, some of my clients do not like water and some really do not like showers or baths I have to respect there decision if they prefer not to have one and explain if possible that it is in, religion to smell nice and clean if they ignore this is in religion only but what they have to understand its nature to try and stay clean…

I started my shift at 7:15 am. My work clothes are comfortable and unrestrictive; my footwear is flat, sensible and offers protection to my feet and ankles. When I arrive to the service user’s home, I knock on the door and wait to be let in either by one of the service user’s or by a work colleague. Once inside I greet the service user, if they are awake. I then head to the sleep in room, to start verbal handover with my work colleague. After the 15 minute handover, I then check and sign the handover sheet. Check the on call rota, should there be an incident or or accident. Also check the communication book and also check any money and medication, then checking the activity planner. Once the service user wakes, we say hello to each other, and chat for a short period. I encourage them to start their personal care. After, I ask them if they need any support with getting dressed and preparing breakast. The time is now 8:00 so I administrer the morning medication. I always wash my hands before handling food or medication and after assisting with any personal care. After the service user has had their breakfast. I support them with the washing up. I will then encourage the service user to clean their property. I will then support the indiviual in safely cleaning, all ares with correct products. After this I consult with the service user, about their activity plan for the day, if the service user decided to go into town. I ask them how they would prefer to travel, by bus or by personal car.…

When I started my work placement at my setting I was working with my members of staff and manager who told me how to monitor children when they eat and which child cannot eat certain food because of their religion or culture. Before I started to give out the food for the children I had to read the food policies and procedures to know how to serve the food and drink for the children. At my placement I learnt how to monitor the children when they ate and how much they ate, and also about their allergies. I had to monitor how much the children drink and I had to make sure that they drink enough water or milk.…
