Terracotta Army Essay
The Terracotta Army Waves and waves of warriors in shiny armour were marching orderly, sands and dirt were flying in the air after being grinded and stepped on by chariot wheels and horseshoes. With a shout, thousands of arrows burst towards the sky relentlessly as if they were tiny drops of rain. In a twinkle of an eye, the shouts grew louder, and the army crashed into the battlefield like a mountainous wave. The ground trembled as the world shaking sounds of weapons clattering and battle cries grew louder and louder, slowly turning into a song of war… “Welcome to the Terracotta army…” the broadcast pulled me back to reality. The reason he built it was that he still wanted to rule the land even after he’s dead. This photo was only part of pit 1 of the terracotta army, but if you have seen all the other pits, you will notice that all the soldiers are facing in the same direction: East. Why? The answer leads to another reason why Qin Shi Huang had constructed the terracotta army: to show his glory. This army had fought and triumphed over the warring states to unite China, and all the other 6 kingdoms in the warring states period were to the east of Emperor Qin. Aside from a show of his glory, he also had hoped that they would protect him from those 6 kingdoms if they strike again.
On their faces you can see their greatness and dignity, but if you look deeper, you will realize how much the culture has changed. From an ancient empire who wanted to rule the land even after he’s dead, to an industrial world with laws and economies, lots of things have changed, including our perspectives at things, or life. Though all that’s left now are tales and stories of the past, but what is within us will forever be in our blood, the blood of humanity, to remind us that we once were heroes and forever will
