The Fixer
A well written and engrossing book that focuses on Politics. Where do I sign up?
This book easily become one of my favorite reads this year. It is without doubt, The Fixer is joining my Top Ten Favorite Reads of this year.
For me the best kind of books is the one that makes me feel intoxicated as if I am drunk in life’s high. The Fixer evoke these feelings for me. I was instantly hooked from the very first. There is snark, Barnes’s trademark writing, a group of teenagers bonding, a group of older crowd getting their own interesting, but doubtful spotlight. Aside from all that, The Fixer also explores Politics. There is an alluring portrayal of power, injustice and morality.
It is simply brilliant, and I did not guessed any of the twists right. …show more content…
Tess the protagonist is someone I immediately identify with. She has a distinct voice and narrative that is mature, yet a reader could still decipher her feisty teenager fire. It is such a delight to read her point of view. There was no moment of falter. She makes the plot rapidly flow. She is a heroine, someone should watch out for. Her legendary silent persona and bite is something no one should missed.
“There are a lot of ways to castrate a bull," I said, my words deliberate and slow. "You can band the balls off, so they shrivel up and die. Or you can take a knife, and slide it just so." I demonstrated with my free hand. "I grew up on a ranch. I know a lot about castrating bulls.”
Besides from Tess, The Fixer has a rather large cast. Her sister Ivy, who is a formidable fixer. Adam, a hottie man next door who comes from a very powerful line. Bodie, Ivy and Tess’s resident driver and bodyguard who talks too much.
And meet Tess’s entourage, Vivie who instantly become her friend. Asher, the charming and troublemaker guy who uses obscure words. His twin’ Emilia, who is very clever and useful. Henry, the disquieting but have a commanding presence
