A profession is defined as a type of job that requires special education, training, or skill. (Merriam-Webster, 2015) Professionals require many years of training, study and practice before they are able to embody the role that their profession demands. “The Army is an American Profession of Arms, a vocation comprised of experts certified in the ethical application of land combat power, serving the civilian authority, entrusted to defend the Constitution and the rights and interest of the American people”. Human Resources Sergeants have an array of responsibilities that range from supporting the development in Soldiers and their careers, to planning, coordinating and executing a plethora of tasks and financial actions and administrative duties that are essential to maintaining the flow of missions throughout all levels of the Army.
