The Worst Day of My Life As I lie here looking up at the ceiling, unable to move, I think to myself that this could be the worst day of my life. As I try to think about how I got here I begin to put the pieces together and I realize what happened to me. This day was like any other day of my life. It was such a pretty day, the sun was shining, the sky was blue, a perfect day for a summer birthday party. My nephew was turning four years of age, so my brother was throwing him a pool party at my Dad’s house. I was in the middle of moving from one house to another and I asked my father if I could use his truck to get my little girl, Madison, from her dad’s house. He said “Why not just wait until after the party so that you wouldn’t have to be in such an immense rush? Just go get Madison and then start moving?” But, I insisted on doing it my own way. So, he reluctantly handed me his keys and asked me not to hurt his truck because he just made the final payment.
I own a Chrysler PT Cruiser and this is a big Dodger Ram extended cab. Both vehicles drive very differently. I had to go to Bert’s house to pick up Madison. I haven’t seen her all weekend, and she was very excited to see me. “You got Papa’s truck!” said Madison. “Yes, I do sweetie.” I replied. “I’ll turn off the airbag so you can sit up front with me today.” That was the biggest

mistake of my life. So, Bert put the car seat in the front seat and Madison jumped up into the seat, and off we went to the party. My boyfriend told me to go on toward the party. He then said” I love you and have fun.” Madison and I stopped at a small country store behind my Dad’s house to get some gasoline and a drink for my daughter. As we are traveling down the road I noticed that Madison dropped her cup onto the floor of the truck. I didn’t pay any attention to it until it started leaking onto the

The story started when one night I snuck out of my house to go to a party, as a result, that night I slept over at a friend’s house and found a ride home the next morning. When the car pulled into the driveway the morning after, I thanked the driver and walked up to my front porch with a sly smile to greet my obviously frustrated parents. As my mom ushered me to sit down on one of the chairs on our front porch, I know that nothing good is going to…

I remember the night my dad left like it was yesterday, and I don’t think I will ever forget. I don’t remember what exactly it was that made him so mad but I’m sure my sister and I were fighting like sisters do. My only really vivid memory of that night was my dad hitting me so hard he left bruise marks on my backside. I could hear my mom and dad fighting so I knew my mom saved me again. Then my dad got really mad at her and he grabbed her by the shoulders and shoved her into the pantry door so hard that both my mom and the pantry door came crashing to the floor. When I got up for school the next morning my dad was gone. Some children aren’t as lucky though and Child Protective Services has to remove them from a bad situation.…

Trying to go to school the next day. Standing in the shower thinking maybe if I dont get out I wouldn't have to start my day and move on with it all. But as the water turns to a shivering cold I realize it’s all too real. Pushing through the first five periods of the day, the last three seemed as too much. Feeling as if I will never be able to be happy again. All these gloomy days crafted me into who I am today. This whole experience making me grow up just a little bit faster, and a little more mature and understanding seeming as I already live the life as an adult, but only being a…

Finally, the day that I had waited for approached. I woke up that morning, anxious for the time to turn to one. When they gave me a room, I began preparing myself. The time was inching closer; and when it had arrived, I took medicine to make me fall asleep. A minute later I was taken into the OR. After waking up in my room after recovery, I was surrounded by my family.…

My mom never screamed at me before and when she screamed he blamed me for letting him go outside without his permission. One sunny day, we were remodeling the living room so it can be more babyproof now that my brother was taller and could walk and run perfectly. We left the door open because it was too cold in the living room. We were moving the couch as we told Andres to move over so we don’t locate the couch on his feet. We were so busy moving the furniture that we totally forgot the baby of the family was walking towards the door. When we put the couch in our desired spot, we noticed Andres walking toward the street. We ran after him as quickly as we could as we saw a car moving in Andres’s direction. My dad sprinted like a track and field athlete towards his baby and caught him right in time. All of a sudden, my mom turned to me and blamed me for this incident. I felt like my side of the story wasn’t considered when I explained she told me to help her with the couch and it was really Andres’s fault. She couldn’t believe I was blaming a baby so she sent me to my room. I ran to my room crying, feeling as if Andres was the favorite child and I wished that I never had a…

Standing up I told myself, “If only I had seen that truck. How could I not have, my beautiful daughter Hadley would still be alive.” I punched the wall repeatedly, creating a hole the size of my clenched fist in the drywall. “If I had been more careful...this is all my fault...her death is all my fault.”…

"Jesse, slow down!" and "Um, why is TJ's phone still in your car, Jesse?" are some of the many phrases I heard all weekend long. Many late night car rides occurred during my weekend, but this one in particular was by far the most memorable. While riding through the back roads of Nettleton, Mississippi, out of boredom, Jesse and I had to pick up TJ, her boyfriend, from seeing his grandmother in the hospital. Before I get into anymore details, I should probably go into informing you how bad of a driver Jesse is. She defiantly had a need for speed and is constantly trying to arrive at her destination as soon as she can. Since I have informed you about her lead foot and her inpatient driving skills, I'll get back to describing my weekend. Driving…

When we packed out belongings into the car to leave, there was five people’s luggage we had to fit inside my grandmother’s car. My luggage, Payton’s four bags and car seat, my mother’s suitcase and pink wheelchair, my cousin Sarah’s two duffle bags, and finally, my grandmother’s very large suitcase all had to be crammed inside the trunk of my grandmother’s new Chevrolet Equinox she had just purchased just to make sure we would have enough room on the trip. Obviously, it was extremely crowded the whole ten hour drive from Mableton to Orlando, Florida. Thankfully, Payton slept most of the way and didn’t cry at all.…

Throughout the game I could still sense the agitation between Alex, my dad, I, as we covered up the awkward silences with burying our noses in our phones in between the periods. To end the afternoon on a high note, the gophers played an outstanding game and beat Wisconsin in overtime. We all left the stadium in high spirits, reminiscing over the great plays and overtime goal. At the same time, we were exhausted from a long day and ready to head home and watch the girl’s State Tournament championship game. At home, I immediately flipped on the game and sat on the couch with my head fixed downward looking at my phone, as my dad found his usual place on the couch, and my brother found his usual place in his room. It wasn’t long until my dad and I got into an argument over a letter I had accused him of throwing away, which I ended up finding on my desk under a pile of papers, and he then told me I had just ruined his night with my selfish needs while he only wanted to sit down and relax to watch a hockey game. We didn’t talk to each other for the rest of the game. By the end of the game my brother had come out of his room and my dad told us we needed to talk as a family. I was beyond tired and was in no mood for one of my dad’s agonizingly long…

We went to one of the only grocery stores in town called Family Dollar to rent a Redbox movie and get supplies for making s’mores. Once we got everything we needed we drove to the local school to pick up Samantha’s little sister. We drove down a long twisting neighborhood to get to the school. Once we got there Samantha told me about how the middle school and high school are connected as one building and the parking lots are extremely small fitting maybe 50 cars. The high schools by my house have enough parking for a small country. We picked her up by the softball field and she told us about how she didn’t even have to pay to get into the softball game because she came from another sporting event. So, their mom called the principal also known as their cousin to make sure this was actually allowed and she…

“Well come inside,” I said as I opened the front door. They all hurried in as quickly as possible to the warmth of my house. They all sat down thanking me for my kind deed. I told them, “Dinner will be ready to eat at ten.” It was 9:24 p.m. at the time. I went into the kitchen to get the chicken breasts ready to be eaten. As I was making the food, I heard a loud noise in the other room. I quickly ran into the other room to see what has happened. In the other room, one of the kids had knocked over one of my decorative vases. I asked, “What happened?” I watched as both of the kids stood and pointed towards each other. The father came in and looked at the damage. “I am so sorry,” he said, “I don’t know what has gotten into them.”The father helped me pick up the pieces and throw them away. After that, I walked back into the kitchen to finish the chicken. It was now 9:55 and I called for them…

Dalton had taken off work that weekend so he could come with us. We weren’t sure what time we were going to leave that night because Joie had her 8th grade graduation and graduation dance. Dalton also had to work that night and didn’t exactly know what time he was going to get off. He got off around midnight, so we called our grandma and told her we were coming over then. That way, if we ended up leaving that morning really early we would already be at her house and have our stuff loaded. Dalton and I got there around 12;15. My grandma told us when we got there that Joie was on her way too. She then called our other cousins…
