Three Day Food Intake
Food Intake Three Days

Food Intake Three Days
Healthy eating is important to the human body. Healthy eating provides the body with nutrients and energy to help the body function properly. Nutrients provide the body energy to keep the brain cells active, the heart pumping, and the muscle flexible. Nutrients also help to build strong bones, enhance the circulatory system, and other bodily functions. Healthy dieting means to consume all food groups so the diet can have a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, milk, meats, bean, and oils. Even when eating from all food groups individuals must eat in moderation controlling the fats, salts, and sugars to maintain a healthy diet (Richford, 2011).
Upon enrolling in a Human Nutrition class the professor assigned an individual assignment to assess my eating habits through iprofile factoring my weight, height, age, meals, and daily activities. The assessment evaluates three days of eating breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. The nutrients assessed were the lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates to access my positives and negatives about healthy eating. I entered my daily intake for three days and what a discovery. I revealed that my protein intake was excellent 70%, my lipids were high by 11%, and my carbohydrates were 80% below the recommended DRI. The results shocked me because I am not a regular meat eater, but my protein intake was in excellent. The carbohydrates did surprise me at all because I love eating vegetables, sweets, and I consume very little to none to be honest. Because I am fully aware that I need to make a change to avoid further issues, here are some ways that I intend to improve my carbohydrates. First I will eat more vegetables consuming the recommended amount two cups per day, ensuring that the vegetables are different every week.
Carbohydrates are the main energy source for cells and organs. The basic carbohydrate units are called monosaccharide’s, such as glucose, GA lactose, and fructose. Glucose

Diseases consume third world countries, due to the lack of proper nutrients. Protein is the most important contributor to the overall wealth of the human body. “Protein is necessary for the building and repair of body tissues. It produces enzymes, hormones, and other substances the body uses. It regulates body processes, such as water balancing, transporting nutrients, and making muscles contract. Protein keeps the body healthy by resisting diseases that are common to malnourished people. Protein also prevents one from becoming easily fatigued by producing stamina and energy” (Georgetown University, 2013). Over the last three days Iprofile was…

We’ve heard time and time again during our lives how important it is to eat fruits and vegetables or to have a well-balanced diet. We also know how hard it can be to ensure that you are eating enough of the right thing. Are fast food restaurants as bad as people make them seem? How do you know if your diet contains all of the essential vitamins and minerals? The answers to both of these questions lie in the results from the three-day food intake assignment I participated in. Using the information I recorded in IProfile, I was able to record my intake of protein, carbohydrates and lipids, the amount of fiber intake, and notice pattern or trends in my diet that could be modified.…

I am not a picky eater or one who watches what I eat. I enjoy cooking and I love to eat food that is bad for me. My favorite meal is fried pork chops, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, turnip greens and corn bread. I am from the south where we use food as a comfort item. When we are happy, sad, mad or just board we eat. We have festivals to celebrate the food we eat. My diet is way off the SuperTrackers recommendations. I eat mainly one meal a day sometimes two. I do not eat a lot of fresh fruits. I need to stop drinking so many soft drinks and I should take out the sugar in my tea. I consumed little to no fresh fruits on a daily basis. I eat a lot of protein, but still not what I should eat daily I only ate around 40% of what I should have. One thing I should do is eat more of the good foods and do less snacking during the day. I am going to make myself a promise to eat at least one fresh fruit a day. I went and bought strawberries and cantaloupe so I can eat a little better. I know this is only a small fix and will only work if I stick to it. I can start to measure my food portions so I do not over eat. This will help me watch the amount of fats and starches that I take in. I love broccoli and could eat more of it, it is full of fiber and nutrients that are good for me.…

The results from my three day intake some of the food s in my recorded daily intake that provided protein were bananas, burrito, Popeye’s chicken, pizza hut stuffed crust, whole milk, spitz sunflower seeds, Cheeseburger, chocolate muffin just about everything I ate had protein in it my Carbohydrates were hand and hand with my protein the list was the same as for the lips it was also pretty close to the others my food intake is nothing close to the Dri mine were way above the standard I can improve by cutting out all the fast food its killing me according to DRI and I need to drink a lot more water or foods with more moisture. I eat more complete proteins but really lack the incomplete this is important to know because there needs to be a good balance between the two one shouldn’t be too far away from the other not being this way could cause some serious health issues high cholesterol obesity and even death. I was very surprised by my numbers I received because I’ve never really thought about what I ate until now my carbohydrates protein and lipids intake was almost double what it should be to fix this problem I would have to cut out a lot of fast food and drink plenty more water and let go of some of the snacks I eat and replace them with a fruit or something a lot more healthy than my usually choices.…

My average total calories eaten was below my goal, but not too far under. I averaged 2027 calories and my target was 2100. I ate on average 86 grams of protein per day and my target was 56 grams. The target percentage of protein from total calories consumed ranged from 10-35% and I averaged 17%. I had thought my diet consisted of a higher percentage of protein, but this 3-day nutrition report proved me wrong. I knew I consumed plenty of carbohydrates and this reports confirmed that. The target was 130 grams per day and I had averaged 278 grams. The percentage of my carbohydrate caloric intake from my total caloric intake fell right in the center of the target. My 3-day average was 55% and the target range was 45-65%. My fat intake is also OK according to this report. I am on the higher side of total fat % of my calories compared to the target number. The target range is from 20-35% and I was at 32%. I feel comfortable with this number knowing that my saturated fat was only 4% of my calories with the target goal being less than 10%. I also am getting a good amount of omega 3- fatty acids per day at 3mg for DHA and 2mg for EPA. Overall I feel that this report is showing that I am getting a good amount of macronutrients in my diet, especially for the amount of physical activity that I…
