I have observed tons of kids nowadays forming groups and clubs and that sort of thing very often, but what discerns me is that the numbers of people in these groups are HUGE!!! Not that it is a bad thing or anything, but are all these people truly friends? Or are some who are just tag- along's? Did people actually start acting friendlier towards each other??? Not likely! Something like that does not just happen overnight, and the advancement in this century is not helping it either. People now want more of everything! More money, more gadgets, even more food!!! Yes... more food, just look around you, can you honestly say that people now are not eating more than before? If so then how come high cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure and pure obesity are very common now? Even for 10 year-old children!
Anyways, back to the point, I am not saying that you should start questioning your best friend if she wants something from you or the sort, but you should start observing how your friends act around you, if the always dismiss you and act as if you are not there or do not take your opinion seriously then they are probably after something, like your mom’s credit money or for you to their homework for them, or maybe you got this unto yourself by forcing yourself on them and by becoming a tag along, you became a part of the POPULAR group, or the COOL group.
Why do you care so much about what people think?? If they don't want to be your friends then it is their loss, don't suppress your personality just because you want to be popular! Being popular is not everything! Another thing is that you can be unique, having a unique personality automatically ranks you above a popular person and the best thing is that it cannot be taken away, while popularity can be taken away in a whiff.
Just try being unique and you will see that every one will automatically admire you, wants to be like you, and even wants to be friends with you, even teachers!!! Everyone likes unique

In regards to childhood obesity, the “elites” of society are the businessmen who run fast food chains that children love to go to. The people who run fast food chains know how to cleverly advertise to their audience, in this case children, so that their food will look more appealing. For children who grew up in households that were struggling financially, their parents may have taken them to fast food restaurants a lot growing up because fast food is typically inexpensive. The weaker groups, or the families who cannot afford to prepare a home cooked meals each night, will go to fast food outlets more often and eat foods that will cause their child to become overweight. The elites have taken advantage of the fact that many families are often too busy to prepare meals and that groceries are expensive, so they have provided a much faster and cheaper option for these people through fast…

When I was in middle school, I thought that if I dressed more fashionably, it would make me more popular in school. For research, I looked at what all of the popular teenagers were wearing at school and what the unpopular teenagers were wearing to school. I looked through magazines and took notes on what was “fashionable” at that time along with going to stores and looking at what was displayed and compared that to what I saw teenagers wearing. I started to purchase these clothes and wear them to school to see if there was any difference in my popularity. I did start to talk to the popular crowd a little more but I did not become more popular because I realized it was not the clothes that made these people stand out, but it was their money and personality. I finally realized that I did not want to hang out with these teens because most of them were snotty, mean, and all they cared about was how much money a person had. I chose to stay away from them because that was not what I wanted to be associated with.…

What is making the next generation fat? Just a decade or so ago the debate of childhood obesity was not even a matter to be discussed. Our grandparents never even questioned the weight of their children. Their children, our parents, ate healthy foods at the family dining table and played outside all day long, but the subject of childhood obesity has gained quite a bit of interest since those days. With the ever so growing popularity of fast foods, the introduction of Play station and Xbox games and the more demanding careers of today 's parents, the overdevelopment of both urban and suburban areas our kids are living sedentary lives and are becoming very…

At first, it was difficult to get on anyones’ radar. In the beginning, I tried to fit in with the nerdier group because of the social awkwardness they already had acquired. I figured this would be the easiest as my real personality didn’t seem much different, however, if I didn’t know any better I would say that I was wearing a Disney mask at a Star Wars convention. I got strange looks and several cold shoulders. After a miserable failure I decided to return home and mold my mask into a different fashion. Turned down again and again, I came to nearly the last mask I could possibly create. I began dressing in sports wear such as baggy shorts and Nike apparel. At first, my days would go as always. I still studied alone, sat alone, and all-in-all was completely isolated. Then a slight change arose. I received compliments on my new wardrobe and became noticed by the jocks. As ridiculous as it was, it was working and I did not question it. I took more time out of my days to practice every sport I could. By freshmen year I was fundamentally sound and had become more social. Picking up on “their” humor I tried it…

Growing up, I was unalike from other kids, I was "imaginative". During class, I would always by myself, writing bizarre stories with preposterous characters and with an unpredictable plot, while the other kids were playing with their friends. Many of my classmates would be entertained by loony stories, while other kids thought that I was just some lonely nitwit writing absurd stories to make up for not having any friends. In that year I was relocated to a different school, which I didn't want to go because I didn't have any friends at the school, I was currently attending and it would be much more difficult to make new friends. In the following year, I was still that shy girl in the back of the classroom not interacting with anybody, but it…

But I’m just going to say this ahead of time; your first friends aren’t going to be your forever friends. The thing that probably made it easy for me to make friends was that there were a lot of Asians at that school (back at my old school I was the only Asian kid in my grade). So you can kind of tell how narrow-minded I was, when I was a child, when it came to making friends (if you can’t tell, I didn’t want to be friends with anyone that wasn’t in the same race as me).…

The factors that influence the obesity epidemic are mostly of social and economic nature. From economic perspective, people with average or below-average income are not always able to afford buying healthy food. Moreover, the popularity and affordability of fast food contributes to obesity epidemic as well. Since early childhood years, children consume unhealthy food that tastes good and yet adds fat to body. In addition, the level of physical activity is steadily decrease as active games outdoors are replaced with passive spending of spare time, such as playing video games or surfing the internet.…

In the United States today, obesity has become an enormous problem. In the last 3decades, the number of people overweight has increased dramatically. A study done by theCenters of Disease Control showed that since 1980, one third of our adult population has becomeoverweight. America is the richest but also the fattest nation in the world, and our obese backsides are the butt of jokes in every other country (Klein 28). The 1980s were a time whenAmericans suddenly started going crazy over dieting, jumping onto the treadmills, and buying prepackaged non-fat foods. However, while all of that was going on, the number of obeseAmericans began to increase. According to a report in the Journal of the American MedicalAssociation, 58 million people in our country weigh over 20 percent of their body’s ideal weight. The article “Fat Times” states, “If this were about tuberculosis, it would be called an epidemic”(Elmer-Dewit 58). The eating habits of society have steadily become more harmful and havestarted to produce gluttonous children, over-indulgent adults, and a food industry set too muchon satisfying our appetites.Obesity can begin at a very young age. Many children in our society are overweight, setting themselves up for serious health problems later in life. Type 2 diabetes, high bloodcholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart problems are just some of the risks. Children who areoverweight also tend to feel less secure, less happy, and be stressed more than normal weight…
