UNIT 304 - PRINCIPLES FOR IMPLEMENTING DUTY OF CARE
1.1
Within my job I have a duty of care towards all of the children and young people. This is a requirement to exercise reasonable care, attention and caution to avoid negligence which would lead to the harm of others. I have to make sure that I keep these children and young people safe at all times giving extra attention towards the younger more venerable children and ensure they are safe throughout. Within my work setting we safeguard the children in many ways * Taking out risk assessments and taking precautions to avoid potential hazards which might lead to harm to the children. * Setting clear expectations and boundaries for children’s behaviour, and using strategies to discourage behaviour which may harm or distress others. * Observing children and assessing their development, being alert to any indications that their progress is not developing as it should. * Understanding the ways that children
