Main Idea: There are still ways to improve the way of life of the poor people. It may not be possible to completely eliminate poverty but it is definitely possible to minimize it to a great degree.

This is equivalent to one person every 4 seconds. In the Global Competitiveness Report 2013-2014, the Philippines climbed sixth notches from 65th place last year to 59th place. Despite the economic growth of the Philippines, the poverty level is still the same, with 27.9 percent of the population suffering from poverty during the first semester of 2012.
