Why Do We Think We Are So Great Analysis
SO GREAT
Why do we think we are so great?
When all we have to do, Is stand upon a mountainside,
Which dwarfs both me and you!
Just take the time to really see,
That cascading waterfall
A snow clad range of mountains,
A flower, a bird, a tree
Take the time to smell the earth When a shower has washed it clean, The sweetest scent is new mown hay, Or newly cut grass, velvet and green
Watch the new born lambs at play,
Or, see an eagle rise and soar,
Hear the whales resounding song,
Or, listen to the lions roar.
Who are we, that dare destroy,
This wondrous world of ours,
Why can't this puny human race
All its means, deploy.
To save, protect and cherish,
The good things in our sight,
All things, in time must perish
But let's try to make it

What do they hear?
Could we but converse one to one, face to face
Our actions would, I'm sure, bring forth a tear.
As humans we continue to misuse and abuse
Creatures like these, so gentle and kind,
For man in his ignorance, will still refuse,
To open his ears, open his eyes open his mind!!!

AS DAY DIES
Framed against a bright golden sky Are the mountains that come into view Contrasts so brilliant they dazzle the eye A canvas spread out for me and for you
As evening unfolds it's glorious scene
A bright azure sea shows way up on high
Edged with orange, red, blue and green
These colours man's paint brush defy
There are no words can 'ere explain The sunsets magic colour scheme Seen from mountain, sea or plain This is just part of nature' theme
Catch the moment if you just can With the camera's quickened flash But how can one tiny human man Hope to imitate the perfect splash
Of brilliant hues that appear on high
Spreading their glow across the land
Arriving as day from night doth fly
T'would be like trying to count the sand!!

PEACE

Man’s inhumanity to man
I will never understand:
There is no way, a baby

BIRD'S EYE VIEW
Oh! That I had the wings to fly,
Just like the raven, eagle or the dove
What a different world would I perceive?
From my lofty flight way up above.
How does the hawk, from way up high,
Spot the mouse, the snake, the vole?
If God gave eyes that great to me
Could I then see, inside your soul?
If I could look down from in the blue
Would my perspective be, forever changed?
From this my bird's eye point of view?
So let me dream this wish was granted. I float high above the fields and trees Then glide, along the mountain sides. Far above the noise, of man’s rat race. Only the rush of wind now abides.
Colours are clearer, the sea brighter blue,
Grass like green velvet, spread out below.
Grey ribbons of road run through the scene,
Intrusion of man, with his mobile machine!
I'd like to stay and drift in this place,
Where noise does not invade my world,
Reality alas, intrudes, and must be faced
For mere earthbound mortals, such as I.
So when the world crowds much too close,
I'll dream once more, I'll rise up high, Leave behind this human yoke of stress For like my feathered friends, I long to

Fred utilises the technique of a high horizon to signify the vastness of the expansive land. It contrasts its size with the sky allowing the land to appear more open and spacious. Through the emphasis of this great land almost invading the whole of the canvas space, William’s use of this technique brings focus to the audience of how desolate and isolated the scenery is.…

Mount Analogue is a vivid, bright and wonderfully detailed traditionally set out interpretation of a real landscape. The artwork is set up in 165 small canvas boards placed together to create a massive scaled artwork (279x571cm.) In the foreground we are positioned on the rocky face of a cliff along with five other hikers painted very small staring out into a massive mountain range stretching very far to a clear horizon line and to a small strip of blue sky. The oil stick and polymer paint used is able to make the white’s brown’s and oranges of the slightly snow covered mountains stand out quite brightly against the dark rocks in the foreground. Shapes, textures and lines of the mountains in this artwork are very realistic through the use of small brushes with detailed and precise strokes, and though Robinson uses the same methods to paint we are given a very different perspective of ‘landscape.’…

It was a deceptively beautiful summer night in the month of July; Resplendent and artistic to people with discerning tastes and sensibilities. The sky was ornamented by splendiferous celestial beings. The waning moon was accessorized by the clouds, suspended mid-air in a picturesque, aesthetic fashion, wanting to augment the peculiarly blissful setting. The violet sky couldn’t have been any more sublime.…

The mountains were stone dark, secured with trees whose hues were a blend of woodsy cocoa, knoll, key lime, and margarita green. Scattered powder-puff mists gradually fled over the sky and the sun feed like a bolt. Seeing this made me feel like I inadvertently touched base to paradise. I breath gradually, attempting to recall each snapshot of me being encompassed by woodland, sky, and mountains. We began climbing the gigantic mountain, talking, grinning and chuckling together. After like an hour we sat down for a moment on an immense uneven and dusty rock close to the waterfall. The wind that blew through the trees into our confronts now conveyed a light sprinkle from the waterfall, and a clue of peace. The sound of the wind shrieking, the waterfall smashing against the stones and the fowls singing their wonderful tunes, made me feel considerably more joyful than I was at that point. We began moving to the top once more. My legs began to hurt yet I didn't give an indication of my torment. I raised my eyes to the sky, and my sight fell on the hawk who skimmed over the wind. At that time, I craved flying as well, over the mountains and over the oceans. I strolled slower now, thinking how brilliant it would be to fly, and the greater part of the…

Looking down at my predicament, I saw a steep vertical drop that led into a crystal clear river that flowed between two main opposing canyon slopes. Everything below comprised of layered rocks, cliffs, hills, and valleys, with the occasional hint of green pine trees and plenty of bushes. The air was rich and clear at the same time. A subtle, cool breeze grazed through my thick wolley jacket and reminded me of the potential coldness of mountain weather. The sun brightened at that very moment and heated my cold body. Soon, the sun light spread throughout all of the rocky lands and gave everything a red-orange hue. “Wow what is that!?” my cousin exclaimed. Everyone turned their heads upward. Far into the clear blue sky, a pair of eagles gracefully maneuvered around a puffy white…

"I wanted to get out and walk eastward toward the park through the soft twilight but each time I tried to go I became entangled in some wild strident argument which pulled me back, as if with ropes, into my chair. Yet high over the city our line of yellow windows must have contributed their share of human secrecy to the casual watcher in the darkening streets, and I was him too, looking up and wondering. I was within and without, simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.…

As one reads “Five mountain ranges one behind the other Under the sunset far into Vermont” (Frost, 1916, para. 5), the sense of being out in the wilderness becomes placed within one’s mind. The reader can visualize how far from civilization the characters seem to be. Knowing how far the characters would have to travel in case of an emergency seems to become planted in the back of the readers mind.…

My wide-open eyes move with pointless speed, I want to see blue sky and space all around - not these broken twigs and muddy shrub. The warm air, so reminiscent of saunas, has come to feel like soup in my chest. I would run but I don't know which direction to take, a repeated piercing squawk fractured my focus and sense of direction, the same intrusive sound repeated but I kept calm. I knew its source was a bird, near the ground and probably within ten feet of my location, but hidden in the dense curtain of…

As we approach the beach, the first thing I notice is the sky. As I look into the cloudless, cerulean blue sky and see the flawlessness of life; in the distance, rolling clear-blue waves crash into each other with such force as that of football players. The sky is breathtaking along with the sounds of the waves and the tide washing onto the shore. The water reminds me of crystals shimmering in the water with the sun reflecting off of it. As the sun sets, the sky turns into a pink hue with a bright orange sun going down into the horizon.…
