Religious symbols make use of elements of the universe, vegetation, the earth, cedar branches, smoke, oil, water to figure immensity power, growth, birth, cleansing, communion. Theses symbols do not manifest the sacred, however, unless they are accompanied by rituals and the human world Religious Rituals – Religious rituals are sacred enactments that incorporate religious symbols revealing the bond between the humans and the sacred, humans have the capacity to enter into the sacred, but only when the sacred approaches them through symbols and rituals. Rituals and ceremonies are determined by belief and are defined as a suitable behaviour for the believers of religion. Also they often follow the ethical behaviour of the people living in the community at the time. This means that they differ from place to place, but are followed by all people in the community which makes it a dynamic, living religion.…

There are so many religious rituals and beliefs that is hard for anyone to comprehend all the traditions and worship. The human race is always striving to find a sense of peace and harmony, and are searching for what will give them that feeling and understanding.…

There are some basic Components of religious traditions. Some of the basic components are elements relating to religions all over the world regardless of what religion is being practiced. A belief system is one of the eight elements according to Molloy stating that it is a system of belief in which several beliefs fit together into an interpretation of the universe, also known as worldview. Community is another element of the religious traditions and it is a group of people sharing same ideas, stories and their faith. For example, people get together on Sundays to celebrate the Mass. Persons sing, listen to the bible and receive Communion. Myths are another way by which religions represent their traditions. For example, stories can be passed down verbally or…

Seen as a crucial and pivotal element in the process of deepening spiritual understanding, religious ritual plays a fundamental role in building both personal and cultural identity, an act that expresses and emphasises the things that bind a faith community together. In all religions, the milestones of a practitioner’s life are highlighted and celebrated through ritual and ceremony. These events often include both birth and death, marriage and coming of age. Several features play an indispensable role within rituals, such as the presence of representative symbols, people or religious leaders and music, features that have been central to both worship and ritual since primordial…
In what ways is the Holy Land an important site for all three monotheistic faiths? Holy land is an important site for all three monotheistic faiths because, for Christians it’s the city were Jesus was crucified and rose from the dead. For the Muslims it’s the place where Mohammad ascended to the heavens to meet God. Last but not least for the Jews, King David named it and was where Solomon had built the temple.…
One of the religions that I find intriguing and chose to do an interview about is the Islamic religion. Known as Muslims the members of the Islamic religion originated in Saudi Arabia is the second largest religion in the world today. The founder of this religion was a man by the name of Mohammed. Mohammed was an orphan child his mother passed when he was two years of age and his father passed before he was born he was then raised by his grandfather who also passed and left him in the care of his son, Mohammed set out in search of the truth. Muslims are an organized religion they must adopt the five pillars of Islam which are five duties that each Muslim must commit to in order to be a Muslim. They also must pray five times a day each day and on Fridays they pray together in the Mosque, which is the Holy Temple that Muslims congregate at for worship. Islam is a monotheistic religion and they worship Allah. Mohammed was a prophet who came to bring the word of the holy Koran to the people so that they may find the truth in religion. From the interview that I conducted I found that Mohammed was a peaceful man who sought the truth. Not all Muslims are bad and those who terrorize people are known as extremists. Mohammed himself went to extreme measures to gain followers for this religion, his life story is important to Muslims because he brought the word of God and his teachings and sayings are recorded in the Hadith. The Five Pillars of Islam are five duties that all Muslims must live by in order to be a Muslim – Shahada: The declaration, Salat: Prayer, fasting Sawm: Ramadan, Zakat: charity, Hajj: journey to Mecca at least once in your life if you are healthy enough and your finances permit you to.…
“A tradition is a belief or behavior passed down within a group or society with symbolic meaning or special significance with origins in the past”. It is the existing knowledge that we got from our parents; and parents got it from their parents, and so on. Tradition represents culture. These two words are inter-connected. Without tradition, there is no culture and vice-versa. These words bring us the meanings for our life and make us who we are. We behave based on how we were raised and taught by our parents, their parents, and so one. We…

The statement of “ Money should be spent helping people, not decorating a place of worship” is a very controversial one. It could either be true or false, depending on the place, time and size of the church. It is completely true that the money used for decorating a place of worship such as a church or a mosque could be better-spent helping people as mentioned in the previous statement. However, I agree and disagree with this statement to certain extents.…
