American Popular Culture
Danny Swan 9/17/2008 Mrs. Richey English 111 The influences imposed by the sport of football on pop culture *The influence dispersed by the sport of football has a negative effect on pop culture. N.F.L players who fail drug tests are setting a bad example for the present and future generation of kids who have dreams of playing in the N.F.L one day.* As a result of N.F.L players taking steroids, it might encourage incoming players and young men to start relying on drugs and other performance enhancers to get an edge on their competition. *The actions of N.F.L players show poor sportsmanship, character, and behavior*. The expectations of football players that get in trouble are lowered because of their unwise and career threatening decisions. *These American "rude footballers" have assaulted, drugged and raped their way into prisons and penitentiaries and community service. It appears that Atlanta* Falcons linebacker Demorio W*illiams will not start this season because of his long wrap of mistakes and bad decisions. Prior to his arrest for rape and burglary last month, he was suspended from the team for numerous altercations at clubs and parties. *The risk involved with the decisions made by these icons, are ignored by young men who want to be just like that man they see on T.V., resulting in them trying to do exactly what they see their favorite player do.
