WORLD VIEWS: MEANING AND RELIGIOUS DIVERSITY (345-102: 2739)

TERM PAPER instructions

YOUR TASK: Compare and contrast two religious world views (choose from Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, or Islam). You will explore points of similarity and difference with respect to beliefs, rituals, institutions, and community structure. You will need to give examples drawn from the readings, class discussions and notes, and at least two other reliable, academic references.

EVALUATION: In your paper, you must complete the following tasks:
1) Clearly indicate which two religious world views you plan to compare
2) Explore numerous points of comparison (similarities and differences) between the two world views with respect to: i. Beliefs/Teaching ii. Rituals/Practices iii. Community/Institutions
3) Give examples to support each of your comparative observations
4) Make reference to academic sources which support your comparisons • References must be formatted according to APA or MLA guidelines o See Vanier College Style Guide (http://www.vaniercollege.qc.ca/litc/styleguides.html)
5) Write in a clear and precise manner with no spelling, grammatical, or stylistic errors

LENGTH: Your paper should be approximately 1500 words in length (about 5 pages, double-spaced, 12 pt. Times New Roman font). This is in addition to a title page and a list of works cited.

SUBMISSION: You must submit the paper at the beginning of class, Saturday, May 4th.
If you are unable to attend class this day due to medical reasons, you can email your paper to me through OMNIVOX. However, it must be received by the start of class.

You will receive a 10% deduction for each day that your paper is late. Papers that are more than four (4) days late will NOT be accepted and will receive an automatic grade of zero. Please note that Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays are each counted as one day!
